charlotte, north carolina, set off a lot of overnight protests. authorities say officers shot an armed man at an apartment complex. several officers were reportedly hurt during the protests. the charlotte mayor identified the man police shot and killed yesterday as keith scott. police say it happened while officers were looking for a different person named in a warrant. officers saw a man get out of a car with a gun, according to a police statement. police say scott, who is black, got back into to his car and officers out again. that's when police shot at him, sending scott to the hospital where he later died. one protester says police could have handled the situation differently. "there was a terrorist - new jersey, new york - he was taken alive. they said they wanted to question him. so because you wanted to question him, does his life mean more than our black men across the nation? it doesn't make any sense." " " our officers are ok. we don't know exactly how many officers fired, but we know at least one officer fired and the rounds were fatal."

organizers say it's important to have discussions to address the current race relations. the play runs through september 25. the university of iowa is aslo taking a deeper look at how safe students feel on its campus, focusing on concerns about sexual misconduct. the university of iowa is releasing the results of its campus climate survey today. the survey looks at students' experiences with sexual harassment, dating violence, stalking and sexual violence. the university is also sharing on campus. students and others throughout iowa city developed the plan. students took the survey last year. the university had 4 reported of sexual assault on campus last year. university police say anyone who believes they may be a victim of sexual misconduct should call them at 335-5022. people in iowa city are again looking to the city for a decision on whether a kinnick stadium-style house will happen.
