suspected for another murder. the 45-year-old faces a first-degree murder charge and will go to trial in scott county. the judge moved the proceedings because the case has had too much local publicity. authorities believe standlee killed sharon mead, who was also homeless. cedar rapids police say they found mead's body near the coe college campus in september of 20-15. prosecutors claim standlee killed mead the day after he was released from jail, under suspicion of another murder. authorities said, a t standlee. they later charged him for murdering both mead... ... and raymond ursino, who was also homeless. earlier this year, a jury found standlee guilty of second- degree murder in the death of ursino. a judge sentenced standlee to 50 years in prison. waterloo fire rescue took 1 person the hospital following a crash at south washington street and west 6th street last night. police say a car and an s- u-v crashed at the intersection around 10:30 last

only person injured. a crash at the same intersection seriously injured a motorcycle driver last week. police say the driver led them on a chase and went through a red light. that's when an s-u-v hit him. responders took the driver to the u-i-h-c. a woman is recovering this morning after a car hit her. she was crossing the road in downtown cedar rapids yesterday afternoon at 1st avenue and 2nd street east. an ambulance took the woman to a local hospital. she's expected to be ok. the driver received a citation. alcohol, drugs or fatigue played a role in crash that killed 13 people in california. authorities say a tour bus slammed into the back of a semi-truck early sunday. in addition to those killed, 31 were hurt. the bus riders were returning from a trip to a casino. the california highway patrol says the bus was moving much faster than the truck. "i will tell you that the speed of the bus was so significant that when it hit the back of the big-rig trailer- the trailer

" state police say the bus had passed its three most recent inspections. the driver, who was also the bus's owner, died in the crash. multiple fire crews worked on a massive fire in what cheer -- in keokuk county. the fire broke out sunday afternoon on barnes street. no word on what sparked those large flames. we're working to get more info from the sheriff's office. could be even tighter today on linn street. traffic is cut to one lane only between iowa avenue and college street this could stay in place through the end of november. the lane reduction is part of the reconstructi on work on the washington streetscape project. that project is replacing underground infrastructur e and updating lighting, parking and bench areas on washington street. all businesses on washington street are open during construction. after the celebration heard

the first game of the world series tomorrow night. fans in iowa watched some of the players get their start in des moines. the iowa cubs director of communications says more than a dozen guys on chicago's roster played for the triple-a affiliate. many long time fans are not surprised with this year's success. "i'm glad to have this finally happen. its kind of unfinished business that's taken care of....now my bucket list is like one thing long so its just about taken care of too. " the cubs play the cleveland indians tomorrow night at 7 o'clock. this is the first time the cubs will play in the world series since 1945. black hawk county is testing its voting machines today. the county auditor says the tests are required before every election and with some concerns about election rigging, the county wants to be transparent. a group of voting machine technicians from all parties carry out the week long testing. machine results are compared against the

the event brought people from different cultures in the same room to learn about the u.n "it's just more and more important that we call attention to the work of the united nations, and get support for it. " and members say their work has changed since it was formed.
