so many of the national polls indicated a different outcome in the presidential race. directors of the loras college poll say there are a few reasons. early voters tended to support hillary clinton. but people who were undecided and voted on election day, tended to support donald trump. another reason was the difficulty of polling certain blocs of the population in states like wisconsin, michigan, and pennsylvania. "you have to remember it's a snap shot. it's one little we were polling. with a margin of error it's basically telling you, based on sample size and other issues. it could go within this range, plus or minus 4.4 percent. " budzsiz says it's important to note the margin of error when looking at the polls. and when considering that, he says almost all of the polls were very accurate. after six years of split government in iowa, republicans will control the governor's office, the house -- and now the senate -- once

starting next school year, the state will have more control over education. so, leaders are hoping to get ideas for what the standards they should put into place. this is all happening because of the every student succeeds act, which is a revision of no child left behind. under no child left behind, districts had to set aside money to provide offer tutoring to low income students. it also forced schools to bus students to higher performing schools if their parents asked. with the new federal law, fewer kids are eligible for free tutoring, and t struggling schools, unless they did so last year. before the new act can take effect, the state has to work out several details. that's why the iowa department of education is holding public meetings across the state. " so we have the chance to design a plan that makes sense in the iowa context and the local school context as well." the director of the department of education, ryan wise, explained the new law at a meeting in cedar falls last night. he also talked about what changes must happen before

" 46:45, "assessment and testing are critically important but it needs to be in balance. and it needs to make sense. we need to know how students are doing and where they need support and assessment should in line with what's being taught in the classroom " education says it will take public opinions to make a draft version of the state law to present this january. then the department will hold more meetings after that with a final proposal coming in march. the cedar rapids community schools foundation is hosting a new type of fundraiser, which has leaders stretching out of their comfort zone. kcrg-tv nine's brea love tells us about lip sync for learning. between classes you will find
