morning crash. the officers were stopped for traffic control following an earlier crash. that's when another vehicle hit the squad car from behind. authorities pronounced the two people in that vehicle dead at the scene. police blocked southbound traffic for several hours. evansdale is working on draining the meyers lake to keep it from becoming a swamp. the funds come from resource enhancement and protection grant. the 75 thousand dollars will be used to to improve the shoreline. evansdale mayor doug faas says he wants to make it and check out a relief conduit for damage. more people are visiting meyers lake in recent years. that's due to the city building angels park there. an island in the middle of the lake was developed as a memorial to remember lyric cook and elizabeth collins. they were two evansdale cousins last seen in that area in 20-12. hunters found their bodies in southern bremer county later that year. no arrests have been made in the investigation.

"this is to divert water that they're sending to the cedar rapids waste water treatment plant and paying for it. they will be able to do it on their own through a natural process. and that will help with their overall sanitary sewer cost." that facility will take up about
