drug reactions were studied -- they only accounted for 26-percent of e-r visits for that age group. estimates indicate that three types of drugs led to nearly half of these e-r visits. blood thinners led to hemorrhages, antibiotics caused severe allergic reactions and diabetes drugs caused hypoglycemia with neurological effects. the study's authors said health care professionals should be more careful about managing patients who take these kinds of drugs. for today's health minute, i'm kim hutcherson. to ethanol and biodiesel, and it has to do with the environmental protection agency. the organization finalized it's target number for the renewable fuel standard, and we look at what it means for farmers. that's next in the agribusiness report on t-v nine. welcome to the agribusiness

targets.. are finally back on track.. last week.. the environmental protection agency finalized the renewable fuel standard or r-f-s.. for next year.. reaching the target of 15 billion gallons for ethanol.. much higher than the proposal.. though.. that may not immediately help out corn prices.. according to the iowa renewable fuels association.. there's a lot of corn this year.. "but it definitely puts an upward pressure on corn demand and corn prices, which is good for farmers. it sends a signa these higher blends out there and i think it gets the rfs back on track for the handoff to the next administration and so we are very excited about that." biodiesel.. is also part of the r-f-s final numbers.. the iowa biodiesel board reports right now there are 12 plants in the state of iowa with the capacity to produce more than three hundred 20 million gallons of biobased fuel... which is about three hundred 45 million in gdp

means lower soybean meal prices to livestock producers for lower feed costs, so it's a win-win-win all the way around for the entire iowa economy." shaw.. with the i-r-f-a says he's disappointed the epa did not set the biobased diesel number higher, they ended up at two point one billion gallons for 2018.. this year.. biobased diesel will produce close to two point five.. which he says the r-f-s was intended to push the industry forward.. "it was not intended to maintain the status quo, or to lag what was going on in the marketplace, so we think the epa really did miss the boat in not pushing further forward with the biodiesel specific number. kimberly says the advanced biofuel category is a bright spot for biodiesel in the r-f-s.. they were only expecting 4 billion gallons.. and the epa raised

of those advanced biofuels.. but it has to compete with sugarcane ethanol for that target. "so we think biodiesel volumes are going grow even more so than what people have initially proposed because of the advanced biofuel category." ---- and that wraps up the show for today.. thanks for stopping by.. i'll be back here again tomorrow. ---- we'll post a video every day in the agriculture section
