year, after sears moved out. a gym located inside the mall is a business model that mall owners say has been extremely successful, nation-wide. jump park owners say the same is true for their mall locations. "traffic. more people in the area is much better for us. " parents say they love the convenience of being able to drop off the kids while they shop the stores. a pick-up slammed into a walmart in pella today, killing three people. and the iowa state patrol is calling it an accident. just before 10 this morning, the pick-up went through the front doors of the walmart, smashing displays and hitting at least four people. the three who died were all adults, two of which worked at the store. the driver also was injure. evacuated the store. walmart released a statement this afternoon that said it's heartbroken about what happened. it says it'll continue to work with police investigating the crash. authorities in three states are dealing with more shootings of police officers. in tacoma, washington, police say a shooting last night killed a veteran officer who was responding to a domestic violence call. officer reginald "jake" gutierrez had been with the department since 1999. witnesses

domestic situation when he suddenly opened fire, shooting gutierrez. that led to a 12 hour standoff with two children inside the home. it ended when police killed the gunman. sot " mayor strickland: we love our officers, we know that there is always a chance that they may not come home. " in tucson arizona, a gunman shot two officers when they tried to serve a warrant. both survived. and an officer in chattanoo say a man shot him when he investigated an abandoned building. a gunman trying to rob a credit union took 11 people hostage in jacksonville, florida, this morning. police say the gunman threatened their lives. a swat team moved into the building when two people hiding from the gunman made a break for it. police were able to arrest the gunman. none of the hostages were hurt. today people in eastern iowa

center. they estimate it's at least 217 years old. but the tree is dying and in danger of toppling. so last summer, the city decided it has to come down. workers will begin cutting it down tomorrow afternoon, and that'll probably continue on saturday as well. the city will close off part of a parking lot and a walkway to accommodate the work. president- elect trump started a victory tour today, making his first stop in indiana. react to trump's choices for his new administration

the bond issue needs a 60 per cent super majority to pass. and last april, it came up short by just 14 votes out of more than 800 ballots. the district is going back to voters on tuesday, offering basically the same plan. it would pay for a new gym and elementary school classrooms. homeowners would pay an extra 12 and a half dollars a month on a 100-thousand dollar home. supporters thought about re-working the proposal, but decided they needed everything on the list. "it was certainly disappointing. we regrouped aft and said, you know one of the shortfalls we had as a group or committee is just communication." supporters hope they're doing a better job this time of explaining why the district needs to expand. we'll have more about that tonight on the t-v nine news at six. a study has found governor branstad's plan to make sure every third grader in iowa can read at that grade level may need some work. iowa law says third grade

a remedial course over the summer, or risk being held back. by may 2018, each school district in the state must offer the remedial summer program. a state study followed 43 districts that offered the summer courses before the law goes into effect. it found the program helped prevent learning losses that educators typically associate with summer break. but the program did not lead to any significant growth in tes districts struggled to hire enough experienced teachers. only about half of the students they invited actually attended. and the study estimated the median cost for the programs between nine and nearly 14 million dollars. donald trump has a message for businesses across the country. hear what he said while kicking off his victory tour today in indiana. and the president elect has his fair share of critics and supporters. we hear
