accident. two of the three people who died were walmart employees. that's according to one of their co-workers. the crash also sent the driver and one other person to the hospital. after the crash, police evacuated the store. two employees say this is something they never could have imagined. ""i just heard a loud crash, you know, and a loud banging noise, i knew something was amiss, i looked up and i saw several people running in that direction. " "it's really sad knowing people i know and have gotten close to over the past few months - have passed away because of such a tragic accident." " about 150 people came out for a prayer service for those killed and hurt last night. police in south florida say two adults and four children are in the hospital this morning following a school bus crash. it happened yesterday in the city of hialeah , a suburb of miami. police

school bus to swerve and smash through a concrete wall at a home. according to the reports, police say the car's driver will likely face charges. people living in the area say the intersection is prone to crashes. "this corner is infamous for that. people run the stop and run into that house usually " bus company officials say the children were students at an area middle school. none of the injuries are life-threatening. in a tv-9 follow-up this morning.. bus attendant will spend 11 years in federal prison. 20 year old tyler konigsmark was sentenced for enticement of minors. he admitted he had sex with an underage girl earlier this year. he also used his phone to request sexually explicit images from 3 girls. a former clarke university basketball coach now working in des moines faces an o-w-i charge this morning. 32-year-old justin einerson is now the head boys coach at lincoln high school in des moines. police pulled him over sunday morning after someone reported a reckless driver. his

"when you get up into these astronomically high numbers you obviously can't exercise good judgement. you're going to be impaired as far as operating any equipment including a vehicle and you can't do any of those things safely for yourself or someone else " einerson spent three seasons as an assistant men's basketball coach at clarke, leaving the school in 2011. the des moines school district says he is allowed to continue coaching. b ainsworth elementary school in washington county may have to shut down. and school district say that's largely due to a lack of funding. right now, ainsworth elementary has about 70 students from pre-k through 5th grade. it's part of the highland district, which serves ainsworth and riverside. this school year, the highland school district says it was forced to cut $500,000 from its annual budget. that's because of a lack of state funding. in 2015, the district asked voters for money to build a new elementary

school district says a combined staff and a more energy - efficient building would have saved the district $250,000 a year. so the district is looking at other cuts. already, 4th and 5th graders had to combine at ainsworth elementary school. " 26:41, "pretty unfortunate if they have to close... we don't want that at all " the district plans to discuss the school's closure at it's next several meetings. it hopes to make a final decision by february 1st. an alternative is now available for some controversial book. a dubuque school committee has decided to keep "the perks of being a wallflower" as part of the curriculum for a literature class at hempstead high school. they say the teacher can provide an alternative book if students or their parents request it. more than a hundred people packed the room where the committee held a nearly three hour discussion about the book last night. some parents had complained about the book containing sex scenes and depictions of drug and alcohol use. the committee heard from some of those parents. but most

the 7-member grand jury is reviewing the november 1st shooting of jerime mitchell. cedar rapids police officer lucas jones wounded him during an altercation after a traffic stop near coe college. those close to mitchell say the shooting paralyzed him from the neck down. iowa city is considering a new police chief from altoona. the city manager has recommended the city council approve jody matherly to head the police department. he's been the altoona police chief since 2012 and was previously the chief in grinnell. matherly also wor an annual effort to feed the hungry during the holidays is starting in johnson county. the crisis center of johnson county and the university of iowa community credit union are working to fill the food bank. each year the program collects money to buy meals for people around christmas time. the opening event is today at 9:30 at the food bank. this is video of last year's event. u-i-c-c-u is matching every donation to the food bank from december 5th through the 16th. tomorrow night is the first

des moines. the activity was in the memory of the second graders who died in the 2012 sandy hook elementary school shootings in connecticut. some of the students told us they enjoy giving back. "03:41:21 i think it's a great cause knowing the scarves we've made ourselves are going to children who need scarves." the knitting project got its inspiration from a book died on flight 93 during the september 11th attacks. governor terry branstad has a plan to try and make sure every 3rd grader in iowa can read at that grade level. but a new study shows it may need some work. iowa law says third grade students who are not reading at grade level must take a remedial course, or risk being held back. by may 20-18, each school district in the state must offer the remedial summer program. a state study followed 43
