militants. sales of new vehicles in china have fallen for the second month in a row. the drop in car sales has heightened concern that the chinese economy may be slowing down. the china association for automobile manufacturers says sales of new vehicles in november were down 2.4% from a year earlier at about 1.65 million units. the group says people in china are buying fewer vehicles because the government has made it harder for them to get subsidies for fuel efficient models. they say chinese people are spending less because they're worried about the impact of the european debt crisis. china was the world's biggest market for cars last year and the year before. sales of new vehicles in china were up 32% last year at 18 million units, but the growth

now a talking radiation detector has been developed to help those who are visually impaired. if you push a button on this 12 x 5 centimeter dosimeter, it tells you the amount of airborne radiation per hour. a prototype of this dosimeter was shown to the public in fukushima city friday. the device was jointly developed by a prefectural association for the visually impaired and a local company. >> translator: the machine will be handy for the visually impaired. we hope people will find it useful. >> one visually impaired couple who evacuated from a town near the power plant says they're relieved to have such a machine. >> translator: we already feel safer with this device.

>> japan's health ministry has decided to begin conducting radiation checks on all food products for infants every three months. the move comes after a leading food company announced earlier this week that they have found radioactive cesium in powdered milk. the level of contamination found by a major corporation was below the government safety limit and didn't pose a health risk. still, the company decided to voluntarily recall the product amid growing concerns from consumers. it will cover baby food and formula chosen randomly from store shelves. >> translator: the health ministry asked manufacturers to disclose information on their products. we'll also monitor the products to ensure they're safe. and here is the extended weather forecast.
