>> tim, let's talk a little bit about your travels. you've traveled all over the world now. >> oh, yeah. >> and for different and, i think, really important and very valuable reasons. you are always supporting something of great worth. how did you start doing that? >> well, you know, george, i think the music brought me around the world. i've been to south africa to help with hiv/aids there. i've been, you know, to china to spread, you know, kind of relationship between our country and theirs. but i gotta tell you, traveling around this country, one of the things i did that really meant a lot to me was playing in our schools. and i remember one time that i was playing for an elementary school, and i looked out at a sea of faces, all those young children, and i was like, you know, that's the treasure here in america. and nobody protects that treasure more than public television with their just awesome programs for children. and that's one of the big reasons that makes me a huge supporter and wanted to help public television. >> tim, you got some great thank-you gifts here. let's go through them real quickly here. announcer: you'll receive the

you were supporting public television. why? >> well, you know, as a child i grew up watching public television. it was really influential, and i think, you know, parents and other people can all say that their children, when they see something that inspires them, they kind of gravitate toward that. so as a child, when i was watching public television, i got inspired to do music, so now as an adult, i look back and i say, you know, that played an important part in my life, and i want to reach out and do something i can to help support public television so it'll be there for our children. >> but you also support a lot of other very worthwhile things that come up in life that really touch the lives of so many people, and you're there to help them. how did that start? >> well, you know, i thank god for my gift to write music, and, since my music kind of has a way of comforting people, i also want to do more than that. i want to be there in person to help, you know, not only as a performer, but also, you know, to give back through monetary ways or just spending my time with those organizations to give
