and nigeria's president muhammadu buhari meets angela merkel. is a domestic fight shadowing his visit to berlin? >> i'm brent goff, it is good to have you with us. russian and syria's fighter jets are bombarding the city. a promise from syrian president that there will be no let up until the rebels give up. mounting casualties have prompted an international outcry with western countries accusing syria and russia of war crimes for destroying hospitals and clinics. more than 400 people have been killed in the city including 70 children in just the past two

weeks. syria's president says his government will press on words with the military offensive. assad insisted that taking control of the siege city was the key to winning the civil war. >> you have to keep cleaning this area and pushing the terrorist back to where they come from or to kill them, there is no other option. brent: that was the syrian president speaking with his troops on the assault on aleppo. let's take the story to washington dc. good evening to you. we have these new talks over syria now scheduled in switzerland. i have to ask you, how can this be anything but an exercise futility? >> let us be very clear.

the expectations are low. i have start -- spoken to the state department. they don't expect any breakthroughs. americans went away from the negotiating table but not negotiating is not an option. they still think that president obama would like to see a cease-fire as part of his legacy. if no negotiating price is to be that rush' recognized and respected, the obama administration is going to say so be it. what we do know is that secretary of state john kerry has a little more room to maneuver. he is limited in his freedom to negotiate. he has to call president clinton to agree on anything.

they're been some hints that the russian foreign prime minister could bring in any cease-fire. >> you just mentioned at the very beginning of the show that russians are bombing and killing. they are killing innocent people. i think washington is very pleasant -- pessimistic. brent: our washington bridge there on the story for us. thank you very much. staying in the united states, to more women have come forward saying that donald trump sexually assaulted them. former contestant on the apprentice says he forced himself on her at the hotel in los angeles back in 2007. former waitress told the washington post that he put his

hand up her skirt at the new york club back in the 1990's. the allegations come a week after the tape was released. dr. told supporters at a rally that the women's claims were pure fabrication. >> as you have seen, right now i am being viciously attacked with lies and smears. it is a phony deal. i have no idea who these women are. i have no idea. i think you all know i have no idea because you understand me. the stories are total fiction. they are 100% made up, they never happened. i don't think it happened with very many people.

brent: that was donald trump they're speaking at a political rally in north carolina. thailand tonight, the first official day of mourning has come to a close for the late king. 's body has been transferred to the grand palace where it lies in state. thousands of people have gathered outside to pay their respects. he died at the age of 88 triggering nationwide grief. >> the first day after the death of the king comes to a close. the first day of an official mourning. . monks said prayers over the kings remains along with other government officials. and the kings designated heir.

the city -- the ceremony will be repeated every night. it culminates in the royal cremation. >> life in thailand has come to a halt as people more and the only monarch they have ever known. crowds packed the streets to get a glimpse of the vehicle. many were distraught. >> this is the worst loss of my entire life. how will our country move forward? i want everyone to be strong and conscious and follow his footsteps. i'm confident what he did for us improved our lives? what we are doing here is

nothing compared to what he did for us. mourners also filed inside to pray for him. many took part in a traditional water cleansing. across the country, flags were lowered to see. many events have been canceled out of respect. he came -- became king in -- he is world's longest serving head of state. he was seen as a stabilizing figure. just how the country will react remains uncertain? the crown prince is nowhere near as popular as his father with

rumors about his affairs and finances. he has asked for an indefinite delay in the succession saying he wants time to mourn with the nation. brent: now for some analysis. good evening to you professor. how do you see the legacy? it is clear that he is the central political and social institution in thailand. he very much embodies thailand and it is difficult to conceptualize the country without thinking of the king. there is also the legacy. he's leaving a country that is highly polarized.

another kind of legacy switches into immediately connected is that there are a couple of hundred people pending cases. they are threatened to be jailed for about 15 years or longer for remarks that were considered to be disrespectful to the king. i'm sure there will be some dark spots. >> something that is very controversial is that the king survived some 14 military coups. was he too close to the military? how do you see this? they were never directed against him. these 14 coups will were among

military factions. he was never the target of these. the normal procedure is that it goes to the king. because this happened all the time is assigned. the president military government was fair to take care of the succession. the military fields the responsibility. brent: that brings us to the crown prince. he doesn't enjoy the same popularity that his father did. had do you see his future? will he have that same moral authority? >> certainly not what many people say. we must also say that it is a kind of sign that he has not

ascended the throne right now. we don't know what kind of tradition the succession will go. to have one year of mourning and to install this. this has been done on purpose. thank you very much. brent: here in germany, new dna evidence could link and neo-nazi terrorist style to the murder of a nine-year-old girl. the group is rumored to believed of murdering 10 people. >> she was nine when she disappeared 15 years ago.

a mushroom picker found her remains this year in a forest near her home. the circumstances of her death are still unclear. >> during the search at the place where her remains were found, there is material discovered that is being examined. that is dna identified. the suspicion that one of the perpetrators could have also been the murder is incomprehensible. >> it burn -- along to the national socialist underground, a neo-nazi terror cell believed to have killed 10 people of turkish descent. in 2011, they were believed to have committed suicide in this trailer.

it is just getting started. the currency will hit the one dollar 15 mark and now goldman sachs says the pound is just getting started. here are some of the predictions. that could still send the pound down. goldman doesn't see a sunny outlook that'll hurt the u.k.. if the u.s. federal reserve starts to hike interest rates, that will weigh on sterling. with all of these factors, it seems likely that the pound could have a long way to fall. let's turn to the yen now.

right now the bank itself has a reason to be cheerful. >> the bank won a case and it was about claims in libya before the crisis hit. into complicated derivatives training. and it claimed it one of these fees but now the court claims there was nothing unusual about it. before the weekend in the dow jones industrial average. staying on banks. >> what can you pick out of this?

>> staying with banks and the u.k. and brexit. at least two of the big financial corporations actually profited -- profited from this when it comes to trading in bonds and currencies. usually it is good if there is some movement. jpmorgan and citigroup profited from the trading part. all of these three banks saw the profit decline but not as much as feared. next week, we will get the
