ohio.a father is gun downed in front of his family, during an attempted robbery.it happened just a few hours ago outside a golden corral in columbus. police say the victim is 40 years old and he was shot, in front of his wife and six kids, in the restaurant's parking lot.the gunman took off after the shooting. officers say he did not get away with any money. also happening tonight, police are on the hunt for the man who shot and killed a 19- year-old on the campus of tennessee state university. university.police tell our sister station in nashville, a fight over a dice game sparked the deadly shooting.they say the man opened fire on cameron selmon last night in a campus courtyard.selmon was not t student at the school.stray bullets also injured three female students.they were treated at a hospital and are expected to be o.k. police in cedar rapids are trying find thperson who fired a gun near kirkwood community college.the school sent out an email just after

11 this morning telling students of a report of shots fired at the reserve on 66th apartments. apartments.fortunately, no one was hurt.the police department tells cbs 2 news, it's investigated *81 reports of shots fired so far this year. that's the exact same number as this time last year. cbs 2 news ten at ten continues now with more of the corridor's top stories. stories.cedar rapids police -- and citizens -- are trying to pin down who damaged more than 70 cars. cars.police say all of the vandalism happened betwtwn midnight and three a-m thursday in this area. an estimated 75 people have come forward, reporting damage to their vehicles parked on neighborhood streets. streets.cbs 2 news reporter dora miller went to those neighborhoods today and spoke e with the people affected. the damaged ranged from chipped side mirrors to mirrors being destroyed... destroyed...no matter how bad the damage though -- victims say they want answers. answers. glass -- and questions -- are

of the week in iowa this weekend.be sure to catch 'iowa in focus with kevin barry,' this sunday morning at 10:30 -- right here on cbs 2. now ten at ten continues with a look at tonight's other stories across the corridor. in iowa city, a lawsuit against the city council's plan to build the chauncey tower has been dismissed. trinity church filed the suit saying the 15-story building and the added traffic in the area would hurt the church. construction is scheduled to begin this summer.the project should be finished by the end of 20-18. in cedar rapids, several local non-profits have new websites tonight thanks to the staff at geonetric. volunteers worked for 24 hours to build sites for eight organizationonfor free.that's double the number of sites created at last year's event. since 20-11, operation overnight has builand lalached websites for 13 area non-profits. in urbana, clickstop broke ground this afternoon on a major expansion project.the growing company

created in the corridor series. the six-million dollar expansion will bring nearly 100 new jobs to the corridor. in iowa city,new technology at the university of iowa will soon help reduce the risk of strokes.doctors tell cbs 2 news, nearly three-million americans struggle with an irregular heartbeat, which often leads to a stroke. u-i-h-c will be the first hospital in the state to use the watchman device.after the device is implanted, any blood clot that forms behind it can't get out.doctors wiwi begin using the device in just a few weeks. fall in eastern iowa means cooler temperatures, the harvest season, and football. football.but one eastern iowa boy's love for football and the outdoors turned tragic, almost costing him his life. justin roberts has the story of 11-year-old chase aeschliman. the 6th grader is recovering from a stroke.

"people that i don't even know through facebook were calling out to us and praying fous and it just kind of put it at ease for us to know that we're not going through this alone. it's pretty amazing." amazing."this weekend there will be a big fundraiser to help with some of the medical bills for chase's recovery. everything begins sunday morning at 11 with a luncheon followed by a silent and live auction. there's also a a raffle for a $20,000 car voucher or $15,000 cash. only 400 tickets
