historic wrestling match takes place at kinnick stadium and hours later the undefeated hawkeye football team will take the same field. field.cbs 2 news reporter mellaney moore is live at the pentacrest where fans are getting ready. today we met the group showing support for hawkeye athletics by helping to get ready for these big events. events.fans in the ped mall gathered too... excited for the big matchups at kinnick.37 thousand fans have purchased tickets for the grapple on the gridiron wrestling meet tomorrow between the university of iowa and oklahoma state.the ui athletics department hopes that breaks an ncaa wrestling dual meet attendance record set by penn state a few years ago.hawkeye sports says the first dual competition of the season for both schools will make college wrestling history by being in the outdoor division one stadium definitely it is something i can tell my kids hey i was part of the first time in history this ever happened and i was there to help set up for it.

new numbers show cedar rapids is among the top places where poverty is falling. smart asset dot com says the number of cedar rapids residents living in poverty is down by more than four- thousand people since 2005. that's good enough for third on their list.during that same time period, the population has grown by nine percent, making the decrease more impressive. new numbers on the prevalence of autism in children childrenfrom the government are stirring up controversy. controversy.they say one in

forty five children is on the autism spectrum.the c-d-c says that rate is one in sixty eight. the latest number comes from a 2014 survey sent to parentsexperts say the jump might come from a change in the survey and that diagnosing autism is difficult - because there is no easy test. novemember is national adoption month and today, it was celebrated in cedar rapids today as children were adopted by loving families. families. national study on hearing loss, was done by the university of iowa, but it included a cedar rapids girl, who's doing her part, to help. cbs 2 news reporter joy howe joins us with her story. a lot of research has been done over the years on complete hearing loss. this study looks at *kids who have mild to severe hearing loss, to see how that affects their learning, over the course of their lives. 09.52.30 it's been a really, really cool experience. sitting in her classroom at prarie point middle school, haley walstrom wears a smile so big - you'd probably never notice, she wears something else. 09.52.03.29 i can talk normally and pretty much hear everything 09.52.08.27that's because she's worked hard - she was born with mild hearing loss in one ear, and severe in the other. so that started us on the journey of raising a child that's hard of hearing and trying to find the resources that we needed to find a good education for her and make sure that she had all the resources she needed to be successful. 09.46.32.09 part

of that success, has been helping *others. i've always been interested in how individual differences in children's language abilities influences their life bruce tomblin has been studying hearing and hearing loss for years. but his most recent work, was something new. for the first time, he, along with colleagues at the university of iowa and around the country, began looking at children with mild to severe loss, from a young age, through pre-school, to see how they developed and adapted. haley and her family,09.51.12 they would have this really cool van that would basically come to our house 09.51.18.00 immediately jumped on board. 09.47.47 we felt it was really important to be part of something that was going to provide more information, more resources to families that have children with hard of hearing over the years, haley sat in this van and did tests that helped the researchers discover what they'd always thought, but had never been proven. give kids the right help early, in the form of hearing aids - especially ones that *fit correctly, as many don't - and realize how
