explainhow counties in eastern iowa are prepared for an active shooter situation. johnson county emergency management says they have already been reviewing what they know from yesterdays shooting. shooting.they say incidents like the one in san bernardino influence future training decisions, exercise decisions and how grants are spent. emergency management helps make it possible to provide active shooter training in johnson county to law enforcement and citizens.since the shooting at sandy hook elementary in december 2012, 7,000 people have been trained locally.they say a big piece of their training is called "alice" or alert, lockdown, inform, counter and escape. they also teach run, hide and fight for different scenarios. the more these events happen, they say the more training is focused on that kind of response. if people are aware of their surroundings and they see something, say something to law enforcement sometimes you can head these things off with a pass, but when they're in those situations and things

the psychologist testified about cusic's mental state, his battle with prescription drugs and seizures. his brother and neighbor also supported those claims when they took the stand. stand.on the day of the murder--edward cusic's neighbor, jeff ray said ed suffered from a seizure but regained consciousness.his brother warren cusic ---who also goes by andrew ---said his brother was prescribed medication in high school after he suffered from concussions while playing football. he says he was also prescribed more medication when he was hurt on a job site. andrew also said he witnessed his brother abuse medications "more times then he could count". the psychologist took the stand and spoke about cusic's mental state at the time of the

state students effective fall 2016.in september - the board of regents approved a similar increase at iowa state university and the university of northern iowa.that will take effect spring 2016.the board decided to freeze it there for the 2016-2017 school year. several eastern iowa colleges are being recognized for their online education services. the university of northern iowa, the university of iowa and mount mercy university are listed in the top five schools in iowa to go to for an online education, according to online colleges dot net. today, the dean of adult programs at mount mercy told cbs 2 news, while their campus is a great place for traditional students looking to get a top-notch education, their online courses offer more opportunity for the non- traditional student. he says there are a lot of benefits for online students, from

unless you've been living under a rock, you know the hawkeye football team is undefeated and will be playing for a big ten title on saturday. but what many have quickly forgotten is how far the hawks have come. come.and i'm not just talking about the 7-and-6 record a year ago -- many of this year's seniors first year in iowa city was the 4-and-8, 2012 season -- when there was no bowl game, let alone a conference title, to play for. they're a far cry from that season now... but ask the hawks and they've still got a long way to go.
