clearly a lot of people believe - - fewer guns - not more guns - is the answer.but - - shop owners we talked with - - say they would be surprised if they saw how much time is taken on - education - - and required training - for those - who legally own a gun. matt hammill cbs 2 news ten at ten. also in san bernardino, bernardino,the f-b-i says the two shooters in wednesday's attack trained at a gun range in los angeles before killing 14 people. people.in fact, they were there just days before attack, according to range managers. president obama and others in the federal government have called it an act of terror. however, investigators say there is no evidence the couple was directed by a terror network overseas, such as isis. a new terror alert warning system is in the works from the department of homeland security. security.the current system requires a specific, credible

frontrunner donald trump again stirred up the political world monday saying the u.s. should ban all muslims from traveling into the country. country. "i believe that donald trump comments play right into the hands of isil - i believe his comments are this sort of facious, demagogory, that actually makes our nation more vulnerable."o'malley says every state's national guard needs to be trained in cyber security - rather than spewing rhetoric that he says plays into the hands of isil. isil. other topics the candidates discussed this evening were maintaining young talent in the tech workforce and healthcare innovations. now ten at ten continues with a look at tonight's other stories across the corridor. in cedar rapids, the former car salesman shot by police after crashing his dealer-owned b-m-w into a utility pole, will spend six months in jail.that's the sentence handed down today for 27-year-old kyle orth.police say in march, orth was driving the sports car the wrong way down 12th street northeast. officers then began chasing him and opened fire after orth accelerated towards them.the officers involved in the shooting are not facing criminal charges. also in cedar rapids, rapids,week two of the edward cusic murder trial is now underway.today, the jury heard about his mental state. state.doctors spoke about cusic's two i-q tests.cusic's score differed slightly between the two. based on the tests, doctors concluded that cusic does not suffer from long term brain damage.the

killing his mother in their cedar rapids home.trial continues tomorrow. new details tonight from vinton. vinton.police have now released the names of five people arrested today.some of them are facing drug charges. police served warrants on east eighth street and west 14th street earlier today. today.42-year-old martin lundvall and 41-year-old edward finley face meth charges.37-year-old kathy johnson and 36-year-old jonathon franklin face drug paraphernalia charges.another man was arrested on an outstanding warrant. in cedar rapids, a back- and-fourth dispute involving a trucking company and a federal agency, will now go before the nation's highest court.the u-s supreme court granted a petition by c-r-s-t to review a decision by a federal appeals court, saying the company cannot recover four-point-seven million dollars in legal fees.those fees would come from the u-s equal employment opportunity commission, which launched a major investigation into

truckers were routinely sexually harassed.a trial-level court *first awarded the fees.a decision is expected next year. also across the corridor, several people, fearful of the privatization of the state's medicaid system, are back home tonight after a big day in des moines.buses left for the capitol from cedar rapids and coralville early this morning. a van load of people also made the trip from sioux city. this bus is here because we are a group of concerned people who are either those on medicaid, providers of those who are on medicaid or family members who are on medicaid and we are in opposition of governor branstad's proposal to move iowa medicaid to managed care organizations. if the governor's privatization schedule is approved by the centers for medicare and medicaid services, the program would start january first.

transamerica is preparing to restructure two major business divisions next year as part of a company-wide reorganization. a spokesperson for the insurance and investment firm says the move is likely to result in some layoffs although a number has not yet been released. the company employs about 4,500 people in the cedar rapids area. after a failed attempt to convince voters to help fund the cedar rapids public library - there is a new program underway to make sure it gets financial help.it's called the library champion program.the goal is to raise money to support the library through donations.library board members say they need the money to continue the high level of programs they have been providing. news that the iowa hawkeye football team is headed to the rose bowl has many fans packing for pasadena. pasadena.at the same time, several are trying to figure out how to even find tickets. tickets.cbs 2 news reporter dora miller explains how the university is handling their requests. there's a significant savings

mental health defense may be in the works for jesse matthew. matthew.he's the man charged in two separate murders in virginia, including the death of university of virginia student hannah graham in september of last year.in a hearing today, a judge approved an order to have a psychologist evaluate him. matthew is also charged with the kidnapping and murder of 20-year-old morgan harrington. she disappeared in october of 20-09 and her remains were discovered the following january. the band that was playing when terrorists stormed a paris concert venue last month was
