first degree murder, but the jury decided the evidence supported the lesser charge. cusic will spend at least 35-years behind bars before he is eligible for parole. cbs 2 news has learned the man accused of hitting a school bus full of children near manchester will stand before a judge in march. march.police say monte klink was drunk when he failed to yield and slammed into the west delaware county school bus in october.the force of the crash caused the bus to roll twice.dozens of children were sent to the hospital, most with minor injuries. the man accused of going on a shooting rampage at a planned parenthood clinic in colorado stunned a court today with several outbursts. outbursts.robert dear is facing 179-charges tonight.in court today dear declared himself a warrior for babies and professed his guilt.a judge has ordered a mental evaluation for dear, but he is refusing to take part. protests boiled over into the

the corridor.the cable and internet provider tells cbs 2 news, construction crews cut a fiber optic line near edgewood road at about one-30 this afternoon.that mistake cut cable and internet for customers in cedar rapids, coralville and iowa city. the company says it restored service to most costumers just about 30 minutes ago.all customers should be back online by midnight. now ten at ten continues with a look at tonight's other stories across the corridor. the cedar rapids public library is trying to decide how to use its resources after a levy vote for funding failed in november.a national group asking for strategic information from the library came just at the right time.50 community members met for a discussion at the library tonight.the staff hopes a survey will also help them narrow down priorities.the survey will be available online for the next week. week.we've posted a link to it on our website, cbs 2 iowa dot com.

the first phase of the highway 100 extension is on schedule and on budget.this is video of the progress we shot near edgewood road this summer.the d-o-t says *some* traffic problems in that area might be eliminated in just a few weeks. the city visual arts commission will soon be gathering input for the design of the overpasses in the area. in iowa city citythe university of iowa athletics department is sifting through nearly 43- thousand rose bowl ticket requests.however, the rose bowl has only allotted 22-thousand tickets for the school so far.right now, it's looking like hawkeye season ticket holders will get the first priority, but even that's not a guarantee.all requests must be in by five tomorrow evening. after all the work that goes into the holidays, a lot of families enjoy getting out to enjoy the sights and sounds of the season. season.a huge event is planned for this weekend in coralville and the city lights up the night.cbs 2 news reporter matt hammill has the story as part

during the holidays, it can be tough to spend time at the hospital and away from home. cbs 2 news reporter marissa scott explains how a former saint luke's patient is spreading holiday cheer in a place she spent so much time. time. scott and karen, a mom ootwo, who is also expecting her third, "decked the halls" on sixth floor west to bring the christmas spirit alive inside the hospital and to show her gratitude after she spent nearly five weeks here last summer. summer. have two elves that have something special for ya." twice a week, betsy banowetz and her two kids are spending time at the hospital. hospital. to a hospital bed. august third, i started getting some tingling in my fingers and it progressed to tingling in my toes, and it got to a point that was monday and by friday i could not longer s up in bed. bed. i was diagnosed on that friday with gambre ndrome syndrome i had a chuck of five weeks in the hospital which gave me a whole new perspective of things i'm thankful for, i'm grateful for and hopefullyly perspective of ways i can make life better, maybe for some people who are here for the holidays. so she wanted to do something special for the staff and patients.she painted aspen trees on the windows, decorated the pianono and d de paper chains so patients could feel like they're living in a winter wonderland. "i mean trully i could feel like this is the most insignificant thing ever, but at least a little way that maybe people's day can bebe brbrhtened."her little elves make the cards... cards... they make a million cards a dayand hand them out to patients like michael lomax, who couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear after receiving his gifts. it was a joy, it brightened

patient and her little elves brought one of the most *creative gifts to sixth west-- west--decorations to help lift each patient's spirit, as well as say thanks, to the staff who stood by her side through the tough times.
