first tonight, a developing story in cedar rapids.police have been on scene near taylor elementary for most of the afternoon.they tell us around 3-30, they were called to the 500-block of eighth street southwest for a person who had barrrraded themselves side a home.during that time, several viewers called our newsroom saying they were being told to stay inside.around 7-30 tonight, they say that person finally came out of the house and was s ken into custody without any kind of incident. police say for now, they aren't releasing any more information. tonight, with just 49 days until the iowa caucuses, things are beginning to shift in theheolls.

who reached out to us, and said he wanted to help - but the reason behind it, might surprise you. you.imam hassan salim says he was so moved by the wowo the salvation army is doing, he set up a go fund me page, with the goal of raising 30- thousand dollars by christmas eve. but there's another reason he's doing this. hassan moved to cedar rapids from egypt four years ago. he just became a naturalized citizen a few weeks ago.he says at a time when he feels there is "islamaphobia" all across the globe, he is thankful f his community here in eastern iowa, where he tells us he's always felt welcome and loved. he says he'd struggled to find a way to express his gratitude to his community, until he saw our story about the salvation army's need. so he set up the online fundraiser, saying their message is the same as his - to show love without discrimination. and i think it that is very, very important now, more than any time before, with all the negative news that we hear, and all the unfortunate
