sidewalk in las vegas. the victims were walking on a busy stretch of the vegas strip. the driver is being held by police who say the crash was not terrorism, but iwas intentional. maurice marona of our las vegas station klax has our report. >> reporter: part of the same las vegas strip was blockeoff overnight as authorities began piecing togetherhat led a female driver in her 20s to mow down at least 37 pedestrians near the paris casino sunday night. >> we have determined this is an intentional act. homicide section will be handling the investigatiti. >> reporter: witnesses were lele -- left in shock when a toddler was in the back seat. >> it didn't look like she was trying to stop the car. she had both of her hands on the wheel and was looking straight forward. >> reporter: this is one of several people who tried to stop the vehicle as it drove on the sidewalk, possibly three times. >> i was running down the middle of the street and there was two other guys running with me.

out of the way, stop! then three guys that were trying to punch out the window. >> reporter: authorities also plan to look for surveillance video in the area. they are also questioning the driver to see if alcohol or drugs played factor. >> we have a drug recognition, officers that will check to see if the driver of that vehicle was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and also would either take, you know, blood or breath in regards to see if they were intoxicated. >> reporter: officials say several people remain hospitalized. the driver of the car, along with the toddler, were not hurt. cbs news, las vegas, nevada. a bail hearing is scscduled today for enrique marquez who faces federal charges in the san bernardino shooting. marquez allegedly bought the assault rifles used in the attack that left 14 people dead. he was a childhood friend and neighbor of gunman syed farook and allegedly plotted other attacks that were never carried
