one person is dead following a highway crash near fairfax today.the iowa state patrol says an s-u-v driven by 49-year-old terri skalsky, of walford, crossed the center line at the viaduct on highway 151 and struck another vehicle. skalsky died.a third vehicle swerved to avoid the crash, which happened just before noon.investigators s don't believe weather was a factor a fire on interstate 3-80 slowed traffic near north liberty this afternoon.we captured this video from a nearby d-o-t camera.the johnson ounty sheriff's office says nobody was injured, but they don't know what caused the fire.traffic got moving again fairly quickly after it was put out. days before the rose bowl, thousands of hawkeye football fans are making their way to pasadena. pasadena.hundreds have been leaving the eastern iowa airport throughout the day. day.cbs 2 news reporter mellaney moore takes us there.

one of the biggest names associed with the rose bowl is pasadena. pasadena.it's, of course, home to the bibigame, and as those who've been there will tell you, it's also a lot more than just nice weather. weather.cbs 2 news reporter kevin barry found what makes the city so special. special. this weather is a nice change for any hawkeye fans coming from snow-covered eastern iowa - but aside from the heat - iowa fans are also stepping into a lototf history in southern calalornia. california.the rose bowl actually came after the rose bowl parade - it was a way to try to get the rest of the nation to pay attention to pasadena i" the early 1900's. before then - the parade wawa just a way for ththlocal population to try and show off to the rest of the nation. based on the weather the last few days in the midwest, 2016 will sve the same purpose. we like to refer to ououelves as the mediterranean of the
