their rose bowl game all season, university of iowa president bruce harreld has had a rocky first few months in his new position. he's joining fans in pasadena this week weekand cbs 2 news reporter kevin barry talked with harreld about plans for the future. future. if winning fixes everything, then iowa football is taking fans minds off a lot of their ttubles. troubles.but one issue not going away at the university of iowa is the heavy criticism of president bruce harreld. before he even took the office - university profefeors and students across the state said they thought the process to pick him was flawed. then after he took over, he said they professors who aren't ready to teach their classes should be shot. in the wake of mass shootings around the world and in the united states, and a shooting on the university of iowa campus in 1991 - there have been more calls for him to resign.but president harreld says the keke to getting past thth is

just like retail stores, he iowa department lf transportation uses seasonal workers. workers.this fall thehepututut a call for six hundred part- time, seasonal staff. staff.cbs 2 news reporter mellaney moore talked to the d-o-t about how many rkers they're still looking for. for. dot staff tell us they're still looking for about 200 workers across the state, so if you've ever wondered what it's like to drive one of these big rigs, there are positions available right here in the corridor.pkgthe iowa

of kindercare today was therere for r reason - a good one. the kids love superheroes, and the staff says, they discovered there are real-life heroes living and working in our community everyday - and they decided to say thank you. so they invited area paramedics to the east kindercare in cedar rapids today to give them baked goodies and homemade cards. the paramedics responded by letting the kids hop on board the ambulance and play with the sirens and lights and get a look at all those instruments they use. the kids were pretty fascinated by it all, and the staff says, it's a great way to give them a chance to thank their heroes. we really love being involved in the company and giving baba. that's a big thing that we want to do, we've been around for over 30 years we just want to make sure the community knows that we're here and we're exposing the community to everything everyone does it was actually a win-win for everybody. the paramedics say, they like showing the kids their instruments and lights and sirens, that way if they're ever called to the kids' house for anything, they'll know a little more

a group with volunteers in the corridor is getting ready for its own rose bowl showing.for years, the salvation army has been involved in the se bowl parade. here are some images as they marched in the parade back in 1931. they even met albert einstein! at home, the salvation army is still looking to meet their holiday goal. they hope to raise nearly 800-thousand dollars but have only made it 82- percent of the way. if you're interested in helping their mission, just head to cbs 2 iowa dot com. skies will become partly cloudy thursday but it will be cold. temperatures will rise from 17 at 6am to 19 at 3pm
