made the trip. bad weather delayed many fans -- who had spent thousands of dollars on last minute flights, hotel rooms and tickets, which were among some of the most expensive of the bowl season. when the game finally started, the hawks trailed from the very first play from scrimmage and it didn't get any better as the game went on. but the fans we spoke to say it's still all worth it. "it was definately disappoint but it was nice to be here and experience the rose bowl."it was a great experience...you know it's been 25 years...since we've been there last...why not take the gamble...i would do it again in a heartbeat.it was a once in a lifetime opportunity....t he last time we played here i was like five years old...so this was pretty exciting...and i didn't want to miss it. hawkeye fans of all types were

rose bowl and everything leading up to it.some of those fans have been die hard fans for longer than other fans have even been alive. for almost everyone in southern california, the sights and sounds have created a bunch of pinch me moments. but for a family like kim mina's (me-na) -- they just keep coming back... back... if there were ever an expert on providing music for sporting events -- kim mina might be it. kim mina (me-na) 82 alumbachelor of music i was in the marching band, the wind ensemble, the pep band that played the year they went to the final four. all kinds of fun stuffpart of what kept her coming back - was her first experience at kinnick...kim the first time i stepped out on the field i think it took my breath away. i was scared. it was such an amazing experience. it was music that brought her to california. a music therapy internship introduced her to the golden state before she because a music teacher and high school band director for 14 years. this week -- she's traded in hitting the right notes for getting iowa's float ready for the tournament of roses parade. kimto be able to come to the rose bowl and see this undefeated regular season team

exciting but it's not new for kim and her 3 sisters. she was at 82 rose bowl -- her two sisters julie and laurie marched in 86 -- and the youngest lisa caught her trip to pasadena in 91. kimall four of us marched in the rose parade and marched in a rose bowl so that's always been a fun bond. iowa keeps her close to her roots - an excuse to call home or text her family after games - and see all the black and gold all this week. in los angeles, kevin barry cbs 2 news. hawk fans were glued to their tv's this morning to see iowa's appearance in the tournament of roses parade. as you can see in this photo, the 35-foot long float, was decked out with roughly four-thousand flowers.60 volunteers worked for hours to get the float ready for it's maiden voyage in the parade.

as gametime drew closer.and many local fans chose to watch the game at sports bars.cbs 2 news reporter dora miller checked in at fieldhouse to see how fans - old *and young - were getting prepped for the rose bowl matchup. matchup. : a heartbreaking end to the beginning of a new year, the hawkeyes lose this rose bowl, but it hasn't always been a depressing time in there, at the beginning of the game there was a lot of hope. hope. criminal complaint, 25- year-old emanuel lutchman was planning to bomb a local restaurant and kidnap and kill several people.he even bought several materials for the attack.authorities arrested him yesterday.he's now charged with trying to provide material support to a terrorist organization. the manhunt continues for the gunman who opened fire on a popular bar in tel aviv. security cameras caught the moment the suspect pulled a gun from a back pack and started shooting.the shooting spree killed two people and injured seven others. authorities say they aren't if the violence was a criminal or is palestinian. in waterloo - three people are now charged after an early morning shooting. shooting.officers were called to club 3-19 on fourth street at about two this morning.when they got there, they noticed a group of people in an alley

they found 31-year-old ramarez gary in the alley with a gun shot wound to the leg. he is expected to be okay. an officer shot at one of the suspects as they were running from the alley, but missed 22-year-old kristopher spates junior and two teens were arrested this afternoon. in neighboring cedar falls, two people were hurt after a hit in run downtown.officers were called to the voo-doo lounge on main street at about midnight. midnight.police tell cbs 2 news, the driver hit the pair as they were walking in an alley.they believe, a fight may have sparked the incident. both victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to be o.k. now ten at ten continues with a look at tonight's other stories across the corridor. in cedar rapids, four people are now facing charges after a report an armed robbery near lindale mall turned out to be a hoax.officers responded to the call at about 12-45 this afternoon.when they arrived they found the suspects
