cbs 2 news has learned the name of a boater pulled out of coralville lake today. today.seventeen-year-old tanner wymer was canoeing with fifty-one year old michael felton sunday afternoon - when authorities say strong winds caused their boat to capsize. cbs 2 news is told they were out on the water to take pictures of a local residence. the sheriff's office says neither of them were wearing life jackets. this is a really erratic time to be on any body of water in johnson county or much of iowa. we've had the el nino effect this year we've had fluctuating temps much warmer than normal, a lot of heavy rains. there hasnt been a good opportunity for ice to form solidly. solidly.first responders had to break an inch of ice as they scoped the waters - and debris made the search efforts difficult. the news is hitting the community of solon very hard tonight.and many gathered to remember the young life lost. lost.cbs 2 news reporter dora

"over the summer a few years ago, we all got together and had a huge mud fight in my backyard and it was so fun to have all those laughs together.""i still can't believe it. it feels like a dream, like it doesn't seem real. it's crazy to think that someone from a small town that everybody knows is gone."but the overflow of support and the love shown by strangers will make his loss just a little easier to handle. karl white died after being shot saturday afternoon. authorities did take the shooter into custody, but no charges have been filed.they believe the shooting may have been an accident. now ten at ten continues with a look at tonight's other stories across the corridor. the national weather service now says hiawatha was hit by a tornado on december 23rd.it was a brief twister but it downed some trees and even flipped a semi on i-380.the weather service says the e-f-1 tornado was on the ground for two miles. in cedar rapids, van meter is buying bright electrical supply in chicago. this is video of van meter's cedar rapids location.the company announced the plans to buy the lighting distributor last month.van meter says bright will keep its name in stay in illinois.the acquisition will expend the company's presence in the midwest to 15 locations. in iowa city, city,leaders selected their new city staff.members elected jim throgmorton to serve as
