did north korea conduct a hydrogen bomb test?that's what now trying to determine. determine.last night, the communist country announced a succesful test had been completed.the blast triggered a five-point-one magnitude earthquake and quickly drew international condemnation. including china, one of north korea's few allies.south korea has also call the develoloent a reat to peace and stability in the world.the united nations quickly scheduled an emergency closed-door meeting to discuss the alleged test. this test once again violates numerous security council resolutions despite the united call by the international

activities. it is also a grave contravention of the international norm against nuclear testing. testing.meanwhile, japan has deployed aircrafts to collect air samples s test for radiation.n.but it could take weeks for those tests to confirm if north korea in fact detonated a nuclear device. we're hearing reaction both nationally and locally, locally,following presesent ama's announcement of executive actions on gun control. control.yesterday, the president said he wants to expand background checks by having federal agencies treat all gun sales equally.that means weapons sold at gunun showowananonline, would be subject to the same background checks as all other gun sales. right now about 40-percent of les have no checks at all. the president also wants to increase funding for mental healththcare and to hire more a-t-f agents.that's something that would require approval from congress. the national rifle association reacted on twitter after the preisdent's announcement. executive director chrhr coco

new this afternoon... afternoon...a formerowa mayor has been charged with rape in kansas city. city.jeremy filbert is accused of molesting a victim under the age of 14.court records show filbert was arrested in october.in june 20-14, hwas accused of inappropriate e conduct wiwi children, but wasn't charged.filbert resigned as mayor of mitchellville, a des moines suburb, last april.a preliminary hearing for him is uet for next friday. a threatening facebook page has the waterloo police force on alert. alert.its creator posted intentions to harm members of the police department.the page was quickly taken down after gaining attention from residents and offifirs.local authorities say apart from that incident, the overwhelming amount of social media users have been positive. the department told cbs2 news since it's not considered criminal activity, police do not plan t topen an investigation. the cedar rapids police department will soon be accepting job applications.you can apply to be a police officer starting
