every year, the salvation army in cedar rapids hands out toys to parents to put under the tree for their kids at christmas. we love doing this story every year - but this year, we told you they were about 30-thousand dollars behind their goal. a man named hassam mahmoud saw our story. he happens to be a muslim leader in our community. he reached out, telling us he wanted to help and set up a go-fund-me page and asking his mlim and christian community to ome together, forget the negativity that sometimes separates religions, and help. they didn't raise the 30- thousand they wanted to. they raised just a little under 3- thousand. but it's enough to help fund 19 families' bibis this year, and it's formed a new partnership. hassam says he plans to do this *every year. this year, we didn't rely start early enough, so we didn't have much time to work with, but hopefully next year we will have more time to raise funds but also we're hoping to get people from our
