back in eastern iowa -- a cedar falls man is behind bars this morning -- accused of robbing a bank. bank.last night -- 26-year-old jon ellingson was arrested just a half mile from the scene of the crime.police tell cbs 2 news he handed a teller a note demanding money. money.it happened tuesday afternoon at first national bank on whitetail drive in cedar falls.his face was covered -- but authorities tell us the spect ran from the bank inin the thunder ridge shopping center where he changed clothes.ellingson is now facing second degree robbery charges. a fairfield man is now charged with vehicular homicide for a crash in washington county. according to the washington evening journal, it happened last july on highway 218 near ainsworth. ainswoh.the iowa state patrol says a vehicle driven by jorge noivo went out of control, crossed the median and slammed into a vehicle driven by wendy littrell.she was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. authorities say noivo was drunk at the time of the crash. it's coming up next... next...why thinking your phone is ringing when it isn't is

the president gave his state of the union address last night -- butearlier in the day -- governor terry branstad rolled out his visisi for iowa lawmakers. lawmakers.s.during his condition of the state address, branstad revealed he *does want more funding for education. his budget plans come after mu controversy surrounding his veto of bipartisan legislatioiolast yeaea legislative leaders had reached an agreement for one-time education funding of 55-million dollars. but branstadnixed that compromise. tuesday, he told lawmakers iowa children need a bright future, and asked for more money than republicans had previously sought. today i'm proposinan increase of k-12 funding of over one hundred and d forty-five million dollars - over 3.2 billion dollars annually annuallythe governor also reaffirmed his proposal to shift a portion of future

thanks stephanie..out east -- lake snow is pummeling parts of new york.a storm system that will be in that area for roughly a week has dumped around two feet of snow in buffalo -- and the snowfall is expected to continue.the state of new york has more than a thousand plow drivers ready to clear roads. near the indiana-ohio birder, bad winter weather caused a 40- car pile up yesterday.several trucks crashed into each other, as you can see, many of those vehicles were semi trailers.six people were hurt but no one was killed.that area also got hit by two rounds of snowstorms. firefighters in california have worked into the night, trying to free a worker trapped in a sewer line at least ten-feet deep. deep.authorities say a trench collapsed on him in oakland, leaving him buried up to his chest..rescue crews are now trying to shore up the trench, so they can get him out safely. fire officials on scene say the worker appears to be okay. it's been more than 20 years -- but this morning -- there's an n-f-l team heading *back to los angeles.
