corridor voters have a lot to think over this morning, after last night's "your voice, your future: the iowa impact" town hall event in iowa city. city.cbs 2 brought together both state party chchrs and two politicacascience professors to talk about the state of the iowa caucues -- and what iowans are doing to keep them first in the nation. nation.this morning -- we take a look at why the caucuses really are unlike anything else in the united states. states. the hawkeye state has only had it's spot first in line since the 1970's.so before the caucuses impacted the st of the country -- the university

they changed the way party officials acted within the state... state...the whole process has just been revolutionized since the 1970's with these party officials feeling the need to be fair and impartial umpires rather than the deciders and i think that's one of hte most striking changes in the last 50 years ij the way that we nominate candidates.now -- people like democrat chair dr. dy mcguire e and jeff kaufmann -- the republican party chair -- are extremely careful not to favor one candidate over another -- so they don't get in the way of the huge amount of campainging that each candidate will do -- answering as many questions from as many voters as possible. possible.that personal experience is really importan to the candidates as well becuase it gives them an idea both how voters think about a variety ofofissue but it also proves their political skills. both parties say it makes the candidates better for the later states -- and identifies the ones who don't perform as well.the process also changes
