new details this morning from oregon, oregon,where gunshots and arrests have ended a nearly month-long standoff at a wild-life refuge.and during the chaos, one militia member was killed. killed.cbs 2 news reporter stephanie johnson has been tracking this story all morning long for us, and has the tails, stephanie. stephanie.kevin, authorities arrested a total of seven members of that armed group, including the group's leader ammon bundy. bundy.law enforcement say they conducted a traffic stop on two vehicles. they say most

"i' hoping it opens dos for me. i don't plan on welding for the rest of my life but i hope i can use it as a stair way to somewhere better." curtis and simmons, both serving two decades behind bars for robbery are now about half wa through their sentences. "i was given chances in the past but like i said, i was immature, i didn't know what to do with them, but this apprenticeship, it's actual hands on training and it's educational book work - a two part process. and given that chance and opportunity, i knew

"that money will come back to ththsystem. you give e me a good paying job, now i turn around and i'm a tax paying citizen."diesberg helped bring the program to anamosa in 2014 and as of the end of last year, it's now being used at all nine of iowa's prisons. "we went to the u.s. department of labor showed them our program, what it was today and how we'd built it up and they approved every bit of the program so we started of apprenticeship." even the

designed by an apprenticeship student. the department of rrections offers 16 different types of apprenticeships from welding to cooking. each one has a certaiainumbebeof curriuclum hours paired with hands-on training. here's a look at some of eastern iowa's top stories -- on this morning... a new partnership between iowa works and hawkeye community college is trying to bring more women into construction. the college is taking its construction simulator to workforce development sites around the state.the simulator gives people a look at how to operate heavy machinery found on construction sites. imon communications is now operating in iowa city.the cedar rapids-based cable company started working with businesses in the area last month.it's now taking sales orders throughout much of the city.

here's a look atatome of eastern iowa's top stories -- on this morning... two arrests have been made for a stolen bike case in cedar falls.levi dull and melissa greenway are charged with stealing the bike that was part of a popoce sting operation last month.the bike had a g-p-s monitor on it and was found in a truck that belonged to dull two days after it was stolen.he and greenway were identified through surveillance video and arrested over the weekend. new data shows iowa's unemployment rate stayed at three-point-four-percent last month.the number of unemployed iowans dropped by 500 from november.just last year -the te was at four-point-three percent.the national rate
