warm as 35 in washington. you can see a few clouds passing to fuzzy area. the clouds will move out after midnight tonight. the flurries will only produce a dusting in the northeastern corner of the state. tomorrow a little bit of sunshine but as s day goes on more clouds will come in. we will have more on the weekend in a few minutes. we have the latest information tonight on a deadly multivehicle crash. we have learned that ice on the roadway contributed to the crash and three people are dead. the state patrol tells us it happened at 5:30 this morning on highway 30. to per se the driver of a van, carrying ten people, lost control it back an oncoming car

in des moines right now, state lawmakers are pushing to end the governor's plan to privatize medicaid. the democrat-controlled senate will vote on a bill monday that would stop governor branstad's switch to managed care companies.lawmakers say the *federal call to *delay the plan is evidence the private firms have not taken all the necessary steps to make sure iowans are being taken care of. if approved, the bill will head to the republican-controlled house. an iowa lawmaker now wants to keep the state's public universities from cooperating with stanford university. university.a bill introduced by state senator mark chelgren would keep that ban in place until stanford publicly apologizes for its half-time show at the rose bowl.senator chelgren says stanford officials condoned bad behavior by allowing the band to mock iowa.the show was met with boos from the crowd and e-s-p-n eventually cut away from the performance.a stanford spokesman says the school regrets the

are campaigning hard ahead of next week's primary.on the g-o-p side, the war of words between donald trump and ted cruz is grabbing almost every headline coming out of the granite state. state.trump is accusing the texas senator of cheating to win the iowa caucuses.cruz fired back wednesday, calling trump a sore loser, and says his young daughters are better in new hampshire democrats and republicans are republican party has sided with cruz and says it will not overturn mondas results. tonight, for the first time on a debate stage--democrats bernie sanders and hillary clinton will go head-to-head. tonight's debate at the university of new hampshire is hosted by m-s-n-b-c.this of course comes just three days after caucus day, in which clinton barely edged out a win over sanders.right now - the vermont senator holds a 20-point lead over clinton in new hampshire.that's state's open primary is just 5 days away. next on cbs 2 news at six. six.why plans to bring a new grocery store to the fastest growing part of the corridor

terry is here now with the weather first forecast. >> we have got a fefeclouds in the area this evening. right now the temperature is at 31ere in cedar rapids. the wind is net strong tonight. you will notice quite a range in temperatures tonight from north to south. in this part of the viewing area readings are in the low 20s but down south of highway 30 temperature is much warmer with a 33-degree reading in iowa city. let's talk a little bit about the snow cover. the storm that came through earlier this week really hammered the western counties.

up to 11 inches of snow came down. right now across the north westurn third of the state there is anywhere om 8-18 inches of snow on the e ound. there is nothing around this part of easteriowa. temperatures across the northern and western part of the viewing area. the satellite tonight has some clouds working their way through eastern iowa. also a few scattered flurries. clouds will be followed by more clouds a during the day tomorrow. you can see this band of snow showers crossing the northern counties, this might produce a tiny dusting up here in the

it should be off to wisconsin in the next couple of hours. the rest of tonight we will be dry. some passing clouds at this evening, after that a dry day on friday. the dry weather stays until saturday but by then we have wind and that will bring some warmer temperatures to the area this weekend. highs in all locations on sunday should be above the freezing mark. today, 27 in waterloo. look at the snow ver, they have fresh snow on the ground. out to the west of us tonight there is the storm rolling up to canada then dropping to the south east. the next weather maker will go to canada then drop southeast as a clipper so that will bring wind over the weekend and mild temperatures. as the clipper goes by it brings in cold air for next showers. models indicate monday there is a possibility of an inch of snow a athe next round of cold

that is really several days the forecast right now is looking pretty quiet. after midnight and during the morning hours we should have some sunshine but later in the day more clouds coming in from the southwest as the wind kicks in and that will bring us the warmer tempetures. tonight, temperatures down in the single digits in the northwest holding in the upper teens in the southeast where there is little in the way of snow cover. tomorrow m mh colder in the north. temperatures running around 23 in the north. as you can see temperatures pretty mild for the weekend but by sunday night we do have a chance for some light snow in here and again there could be some minor accumulation. behind that things will cool down for next week. a high of 14 on next tuesday.

it was signing day part two for spencer williams -- the tigers stud lineman offically signed with iowa yesterday at his house -- which wasn't as fun as today. "i actually woke up to get ready for school and my mom was like 'hey no school today!' and i thought 'oh man, that kinda stinks'... we were just like 'w'wl we gogoa get this signing done and get it faxed over' so i just woke up around 8:30, signed my papers and sent it in.... everyone home here in cedar falls loves the hawkeyes...it just feels really nice to stay at home and be a hawkeye." we will be right back to take
