this stems from an asbestos incident last summer. and the contractor for the work -- the dnr found several violations which could have known carcinogens. we reached out to a spokesperson for comments and they responded saying top school officials will be attending the meeting today. university of iowa police are trying to track county the man they say was videotaping a female student while she was showering last night in a residence hall. police were called to the university's east side around 10:30. police say the woman confronted the man who ran away. as the officer was investigating a report came in of suspicious activity in another women's restroom. a man was found hiding in a stall. and the suspect fought the

there this morning midday and across the statewide picture as well. some spots saw a dusting of snow and that's the way we were expecting. 34 for the high. and 27 degrees at 9:00 tonight. and warmer weather is right around the corner. we'll let you know when in the 7-day forecast. some incredible video out of pennsylvania after an 11 vehicle pileup this morning. emergency crews say eight tractor-trailers and three other vehicles collided. "they told me nobody's killed, which is really, from what i've seen, you know i'm all shaken up, but from what i've seen, it's a miracle." miracle."nearly a dozen tow trucks were on the scene to help pull apart the wrecked vehicles.fuel also spilled onto the highway and had to be cleaned up.it's not clear if weather was a factor. drivers from the carolinas to new york might be having a

florida with 10 days of coast guard hearings. the cargo ship sank on october first while in en route to puerto rico after sailing into the path of a hurricane.33 crew members were on board - there were no survivors.coast guard captain jason neubauer, who is the chairman of the board conducting the hearings, said the goal is to find the facts behind what happened to el faro.the n-t-s-b says it will begin a new search for the ship's data recorder this spring. the driver of a garbage truck is in serious condition after driving off an exit ramp on an interstate in miami and tumbling more than a hundred feet to a parking lot below. officials say the truck ripped parking lot. the truck ripped through 50 feet of guardrail, split in two, and slammed into three other vehicles feet away from a community center. an explosion. >> the truck falling midair.

felt like five seconds to hit the floor. >> officials don't know the exact cause of the crash but suspect the truck might have been hit by another vehicle or the driver had a medical issue. a trial date is set for the man charged with running over a woman. he pled not guilty in the death of emily jacobs from urban in a. he was arrested last month and faces a number of charges, including leaving the scene of a fatal accident. the trial is scheduled for april 5th and he faces five years in jail. three police officers are on paid leave after a shooting. the officers were responding to a drug complaint at a hotel. in the lobby they found -- who pulled out a gun and opened fire. the officers hit the 29-year- old and they'll remain on leave

a new effort is underway to further improve advancements in safety on iowa roadways. state legislators are pushing a hand. of bills, including two that would make texting and driving a primary offense. a police officer could pull you over for just that. and another would require drunk drivers to take daily breath tests. it's not clear how the future of the bill will turn out. and a unique species never recorded by scientists. they say this shares ancestry with coffee beans but might have been poisonous. it's extinct and perfectly preserved in the amber. the name is related to struck nine which was once a key ingredient in rat poison.

a new piece of crime fighting software is helping police gather online data ab welcome back. a new piece of crime fighting software is helping police gather online information about potential criminal suspects. some say the program goes too far. here's chris martinez. >> that's how fast it can happen. >> reporter: the software program called beware searches public records and is giving police a heads up about who officers may encountered before they head to a call.

>> somebody who had a past arrest for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, that information may cause the officer to handle the call differently. >> we asked fresno police -- after a man answers a call. >> the program revealed the vehicle's owner and the criminal record. but it's controversial. the software assigns a threat level of red, yellow, or green for residents at a given address. how that score is calculated is unclear, even to police. aclu attorney jessica price is concerned about the program's posts. >> people want to be free to post without fear of government
