rapids. police say 25-year-old joseph perkins junior suffered from scene. the second victim, a 21-year- old man, was shot in the leg. he was taken to the hospital that is expected to survive. neighbors tell me they heard about six up to eight shots fired. they also said they heard a car right now there is no information on a suspect. stick with cbs2 news. we will have the latest details for you on later and online -- stephanie johnson, cbs2 news. a live look outside over beautiful cedar rapids. it looks cloudy and a little foggy today. not complaining about the mild temperatures. how is the afternoon going? >>reporter: the temperatures will start heading down. upper 30s and low 40s throughout the midday. let's take a look at what is happening in the afternoon and evening. from 20 this afternoon, down to 30 at midnight.

even sent a warning letter to the state gop after a wall street journal wall street journal report said that the ted comfort -- ted cruz campaign told supporters to film the caucuses which would have been a rule violation. primary voters in south carolina are getting ready to pick their choice for president. both hillary clinton and bernie sanders had a town hall event last night in columbia, south carolina. saturday, the state is holding the democratic primary. next week, 12 states will take their preference in super tuesday. one of iowa's first congressional candidate is looking for a new campaign manager. he says the resignation is so that he can pursue -- other career opportunities. the campaign has not commented. he is a former saturday night live performer and one of three democrats on the november ballot. at the university of

townhall meeting for president bruce harreld got heated within the first minute. take a look. >> a little bit of a problem there with the video. you can check that out on our website on cbs2iowa.com. but you can hear protesters were yelling for the new president to resign. they were arguing. bruce harreld took heavy scrutiny even before he took office. he promises to connect with the campus and make the university the best it can be. looking at that data, seeing what it means to them and start to have a conversation i hope people are looking at the data and seeing what it means to them and having a conversation about what we should do about it. >> bruce harreld has been on the job a little more than three months. he says he plans to hold hold

one, three times a year. gun rights are another step closer to being expanded and iowa. the house passed several bills including legislation that would allow children under 14 to use handguns with parental supervision. other bills would restrict public access about gun owners and legalize the use of suppressors. and the house, one representative from cedar rapids took some time to speak out. >> we do not need a militia of toddlers that we do not have handguns that i am aware of that fit the hands of a one or 2-year-old. >> the bill now heads to the senate. it is not clear if it will receive much support there. medicaid privatization and iowa right now does not appear to be a sure thing. federal officials announced the state is prepared with its plan and gave the greenlight for iowa to move forward. but instead of a large bird,

products. plaintiffs in the case argue that johnson & johnson was aware of and neglected the dangers the talk him powder presented. the company is appealing the ruling and say they stand by the safety of the product. new images have surfaced showing that kalamazoo shooting suspect in a gun store hours before the attack. these pictures are from a gun store 10 miles away from kalamazoo. uber driver jason dalton is charged with killing six people saturday night while still transporting passengers. he has admitted to the shooting spree and is being held without bond. authorities have not uncovered a motive. they say jason dalton had no history of mental health issues. many women are taking self-defense classes and getting the concealed carry licenses in an effort to protect themselves. coming up tonight on cbs2 news, a special report with tips on how not to be a victim in the first place. steps you can take today, to change her position from a target, to a woman with power.

10:00. if you're looking for something to do this weekend, revival theater company production of "violet" opens tomorrow night. it follows a girl's cross- country journey as she finds her identity and inner beauty. violet is the main character and has a scar on her face from a childhood accident. and hopes a televangelist will be able to heal this car. it is the second season for the theatre company. the doctors say they can't thank the community enough for all of their support. they hope to continue to highlight all of the talent they have to offer for years to come. >> getting to our first season was a triumphant. then you add to that, being able to produce the second season. every day, we pinch ourselves a little bit that we are actually doing this. >> this will run through sunday. you can buy tickets online or at the door. coming up on cbs2 news at noon, is -- storms tear

headed f severe storms in florida spawned tornadoes that left welcome back. severe storms in florida brought tornadoes and left several people injured in pensacola. one tornado ripped apart an apartment complex tuesday night. only the bottom floor of remained. the storm brought utility pole down. cars were flipped over. >> we have roughly 30 plus -- other injuries. to a degree, i don't know. some people were able to walk out of the debris. >> severe weather moved across the gulf cost -- gulf coast states.

thirty-nine in monticello. around the middle west, kansas city -- 39. looking at the highs today. fiftys down south and west of us around wichita. mid-40s around kansas city. forty-seven in minneapolis. thirty-six in detroit. thirty-five chicago. and 37 in indianapolis. the satellite and radar -- there is the low bringing the moisture toward the east. it continues to move northeast. snow around chicago. into st. louis. back into detroit. we are dry. and a low continues to move to the east. high-pressure will start building in. as we head toward the end of the week. and then we will start to see clearing as the head through thursday late morning and early afternoon. more sunshine friday. unfortunately, we're going to accompany the next couple of days of the clearing with one weather.
