>> reporter: well, kelly i'm on the south side of town here the central state bank, caution tape has been taped off, take a look at the river, right behind the business right now. the water is hitting the fence at mid level. it is coming up pretty high. now at last reports on the national weather service they reported that the river measured at 21.2 feet. on thursday the flooding occurred in clayton counties, he will kate your, forecasted to hit 27 feet in town. 15 feet above flood stage in three quarter its of a foot under the record crest of more than 27.25 feet back in 200 l 8. residents are holding on to hope and are coming together. >> town's come back beautifully, if you look up and

flash flooding wednesday near lauler. authorities found his car first and later found his body less than a half-mile away. a cedar rapids couple is lucky to be alive.they were camping near lansing in allamakee county when flash flooding nearly swept away their cabin. veronica and carl niekamp called for help - early wednesday morning - firefighters arrived at 2 a-m, but the current was morning. firefighters arrived at 2:00 a.m. but the current was so fast they able to physically reach them for three hours, if it wasn't for a well placed tree the cabin probably would have within swept away. >> if those weren't there, god knows where we would be finding them this morning. i mean, faith or whatever, you know, somebody is watching over them. >> hitting the tree we could have been somewhere else.
