jefferson high school, after the campus was put on lockdown after a shooting early this mor. morning.cbs 2 news reporter stephanie johnson is live - -at jefferson right now with the latest.stephanie? campus was put on lockdown following a shooting early this morning. stephanie johnson is live at jefferson right now with the latest. >> reporter: right now the scene is clear and classes have resumed at jefferson high school. earlier today, parents and the cedar rapids police department was called after they responded to a call before 8 student suffering from a gunshot wound behind the school's auditorium. the student was a 15-year-old boy. we're working on obtaining his name but police confirmed the gunshot wound was self- inflicted. the student was taken to the hospital and the school was placed on lockdown. the cedar rapids community school district alerted parents that the school was dealing with the emergency medical situation and that it was secure.

butler and eastern sliver of bremer county. this is for this afternoon until 5:30 pm. there has been upwards of three inches of rain that have fallen in those areas. a lot of heavy rains in short at the time could lead to flash flooding. the heaviest rain has shifted into much of bremer county now, east of waverly. but could be some additional rainfall the could lead to flooding. all of this rain has been set up north of highway 20 this morning and has been ongoing for several that is why we have the concern for flooding through the rest of the day. now this rain will continue to move to the east and will move into parts of fayette county and clayton county, west union, near you by 12:30 pm. fayette by 12:38. moving towards harpers ferry in the river by 12:56. we still have multiple rounds of rain on the way that will start to affect other parts of the area. we have already seen reports

radar. locally higher amounts are possible throughout the rest of the day. the next round of rain is starting to develop and western parts of the state and also into nebraska. that is the source of our last round of rain with a cold front that will move through. because we have more rain, there is a flash flood watch in effect north of highway 20 until 1:00 on saturday for these counties in green. it does not include black hawk county and waterloo. it is north of highway 20. that is where we could have rainfall over the next hour or so -- there will be a break but this next line of storms will start to enter the northwestern parts of our area by 4:00 and continue to the south and east through the evening hours. by 6:00, 7:00, enter the central part of our area and moved to the south and east. we will start to dry out. we

to dry out close to midnight tonight. that does up some concerns for friday night football. that could be affected by showers and thunderstorms to the. if there is a lightning in the area, it will be scattered that it could possibly affect some areas. otherwise it will be cloudy, warm and muggy with temperatures in the low 70s. this is due to a cold front that will move through. after a does, high pressure moves in and we will have nicer weather. the weekend including the cy- hawk game. this will not be interrupted by weather. off at 67 degrees. nice and cool and a little breezy with winds of the north and west. for today we have to get through warmth and a chance for showers and thunderstorms. the threat of heavy rainfall and the potential for flooding and flash flooding. stay off any of those roadways that are flooded today. as we head into the weekend, nicer and cooler weather. temperatures in the 70s.
