terry branstad is asking president obama for disaster assistance after flooding earlier this summer. the governor wants a federal declaration for eight counties in northeast iowa that were hit hard by heavy rains and flash flooding. the high water is ruined roads, homes and shut down schools. one person died when their car was swept away. governor branstad has already issued a state disaster proclamation as a federal declaration, it would open up more assistance to local and state agencies. we are in the weather center now taking a look at our weather today. >> a book bite and where to spot. i'm sorry. i didn't mean to be rude but it started itching. >> i noticed you were checking your arm out. >> that is my point her arm. i am playing injured today. let's give it a shot. low 80s today. much nicer. we talked about that flooding

an area of low pressure continues to move our way. as we look to the west we're finding some scattered showers and thundershowers north of us, around fairmont and back toward the mankato area and over to wells and austin, minnesota. that moisture will press east and as it does it will bring more cloud cover as we look for scattered showers this evening and overnight in the northern half of i was -- iowa. he was he the first wave roll through in the morning. this warm front continues to move through ringing the humidity and muggy air. here's what we have for this afternoon. dry for us but watch the north. late tonight, some scattered showers a possible. we will see more as we head through wednesday morning. tomorrow will feature more cloud cover mixed with sunshine. muggy air and warmer temperatures. isolated shower and thunderstorm chances. that takes us through thursday into the late morning. we have an active pattern staying with us from tonight
