crest of 21.9 70s. that is the drone in the sky, literally you can see this guy right there in blue. that video will be live on our facebook page as the drone goes down. we will go over to weather now with brandon marshall. let's look at the current river level condition at cedar rapids. the current cedar river is 21.91 feet, a hair under 22 feet. it is now cresng it's not expected to rise significantly anymore. in fact it should start to receed into the overnight hours. it will not fall below flood stage until early next week. the impacts will go on for several days. we're not completely out of the woods yet. current conditions right now in cedar rapids, 66 with winds out of the west at 16. dew point of orji degrees. temperatures areawide, 65 in waterloo.

keep the sunshine in the forecast as we head through this afternoon. we are seeing a disturbance that could move through later tonight. that could bring isolated showers to the north and east. as we get into tomorrow, we will keep the clouds and it will be a little cooler. for today, sunny and pleasant. it will be blustery with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. we will check the wapsi river level and anamosa coming up in a few minutes. i will let you know what to expect the rest of the week extended flood 2016 coverage we do have an update to breaking news from this morning. a 13-year-old girl is now dead after an early morning shooting. >> stephanie johnson joins us live from the scene of where it happened. >> reporter: that shooting took place outside of this home in this area of rain here. she was pronounced dead at the university of iowa hospital. police responded to a shooting

southeast. at 7:50 2 am. officers arrested three male suspects, two were caught on bever avenue and the third was caught on washington avenue. all three suspects are in police custody. the girl succumbed to her fatal gunshot wound at the hospital. louise murray, and grandmother who lives in this neighborhood said her grandchildren are friends with the young lady who passed away. >> i hate to see my grandkids cry. i do. i hate to see them cry over something. it's hurtful. but you know what? they will see many more. >> reporter: the suspects are in custody right now. they include two juveniles and one adult. police believe all the suspects involved in this incident are in custody and do not pose a threat to the cost -- public.

investigation going. stephanie johnson, cbs2 news. a woman was rescued from floodwaters yesterday. >> firefighters launched a boat into the water to save her. cbs2 drone was over that area at the rescue took place around 1:30 pm. search team located the woman in a tree above the flood waters south of edgewood road bridge. authorities tell us because of a medical condition the woman it took about two hours but crews managed to pull her to safety. they took her to a local hospital for evaluation. the national guard remains in place to make sure everyone stays away from that dangerous water. units moved into position around noon monday. right now they are helping local law enforcement keep people out of the evacuation area. the iowa state patrol was also called in to assist just like it years ago. there's a lot of concern that

there is a curfew between 8 pm this evening and 7 am tomorrow morning. curfew will continue every night until the flood threat is over. cbs2 has been at the daily update conferences that the city has been holding. >> here are some key points to today. >> reporter: one of the big themes of the day, the tesco barriers are holding and we are winning e surface. the real battle is below ground. you can see as the water has come up we have had an amazing amount of water pressure. you can see how strong that is. literally bubbling out of the ground. this is putting a lot of stress on city infrastructure. obviously we have all the storm sewers blocked off and those are going to be under a lot of stress until we get below 18 feet. that is with the city is saying

infrastructure is also putting stress on homes. we spoke to city councilman, scott olson, about that this morning. >> both in the downtown area, the new-bo area and i assume in the residential areas, there is water in basement. could be as little as 6 inches of but it could be more than that in some of the older foundations that are not as -- that are more permeable than a newer building. >> reporter: inside and outside the evacuation zone, right now it is very important to use a little bit of water. use it wisely because it is putting additional stress on the system. all that water will be coming downhill. limit your use and think about everyone down in these neighborhoods. news of the flooding comes from along ellis boulevard -- where so many homes were affected back in two thousand e.

the city of cedar rapids has announced the left inside lane on i-380 in city is now reserved for emergency vehicles only.that is the passing lane. that rule started monday morning and is still in effect today.it's needed to allow those emergency crews to get from one side of city to other as quickly as possible.the iowa

i-380 have that notice on the city to the other as quickly as possible. the iowa dot digital signs above i-380 have that notice but many people still have not gotten the message yet. cedar rapids neighbors are voicing concerns about their mail delivery during the flood. we contacted the postal service and they say they are still delivering to the areas of they can reach, including in the evacuation zone. if you do not get your mail you can pick it up at the westside post office on wiley boul if you evacuated and you want to stop delivery until he returned, you can request that at the same location. the linn county board of supervisors has requested relief for property owners. property taxes are due but with the high water, many residents have more pressing safety concerns to worry about they requested a property tax extension. the governor did approve it within hours. that extends to everyone in linn county. you now have until october 31

it may be the last thing on your line right now if you are a family impacted by the flood but stating you received can help you qualify for assistance. individual disaster resistance could be provided and having receipts will make it easier down the road. they will work with eligible households and provide vouchers for certain purchases to alleviate some of the need for upfront cost. a maximum of $5000 can be handed out for assistance. to see if you qualify dial 211 to see if you qualify dial 211- 4319. you will be provided with more information about the application process. cedar rapids police say scammers already taking advantage of flood victims. chief wayne jermon tells us that con artists are telling evacuees to leave their doors unlocked so that officers can get into their homes. victims offering free hotel rooms in exchange for credit card information. the acts of preditors against

it is now 23.5 feet and that you crest sometime overnight into tomorrow morning. the cedar river, it is cresting now, a hair under 22 feet. it will slowly start to receed as we get into the overnight hours and through the rest of the week. as you can see on the hydrograph, i did mention it is currently at 21.91 feet. it did rise to 2 afternoon hours and was slowly start to receed. that will be in the major flood stage as you can see and purple until sometime on friday morning. then it will continue to drop off and finally get below flood stage late we can, early part of next week. here are the flood alerts we currently have along the mississippi river and the wapsi and the flood alerts around the cedar river and the iowa river. those will last well into the early part of next week. here are temperatures for the last eight hours. it was chilly this morning.

have warmed up to 66 currently. it is pretty breezy out there as well as you can tell from the shaking on the sky cam. a westwind at 16 with the dew point of 40 degrees. it is very comfortable out there. 63 in all one. 63 into core. 63 in monticello. iowa city, 68. winds are gusting out of the west and northwest from 13 to 23 miles per hour. we could see gu into the afternoon hours. sunny and breezy for tuesday. we could see an isolated shower tonight as a week storm system moves through from wisconsin. seasonal temperatures, upper 60s to near 70 as we head into the weekend. here are light showers up in wisconsin. the cloud cover will begin to sag south into our area overnight. here is what our predictor model has. around 8:00, light, scattered showers continue to make their way down. they should not last much after midnight. we will keep clouds in the

temperatures should be a few degrees cooler with that cloud cover for tomorrow. for the rest of today, mostly sunny and pleasant. it will be blustery with west wins at 15 to 30 miles per hour. temperatures in the low 60s to the north, 68 and cedar rapids. we could see 70 and iowa city and down toward washington. for tonight, mostly cloudy, an isolated shower north and east. it will be cool. not as cool as this morning. temperatures in the middle to your extended forecast, 64 tomorrow with mostly cloudy skies. we could see a light sprinkle. we start to warm up on thursday and friday as temperatures will be and the upper 60s with morning lows in the upper 50s, excuse me, upper 40s. saturday and sunday, right around average which is 70 degrees for this time of year. 73 is a possibility for monday.

12:22. we have karafin the american red cross to update us on the numbers. you have been busy but not quite as busy as one may expect. 120 people are staying at shelters last night. >> that's right. we still have two shelters open at st. paul's united methodist and cedar hills committed to church. we have 120 people who are taking shelter there. we have our food trucks out and are delivering supplies to get into. we're looking at shell rock today. we've been in green and her feeding dinner in clarksville tonight. we have been since saturday doing males in clarksville. there is a lot of it to vitti happening in the northern counties. and as the water starts to go down here we'll get a better idea of what we need to do to help folks in the cedar rapids area as well. >> the result of population and cedar rapids has been about

many meals -- how many lunch and dinner zero provided? >> so far we have served about 5400 meals and snacks since last thursday. we have delivered more than 2000 relief items. cleanup supplies like bleach and mops and brooms. also comfort items. things you don't think about when you leave your home. toothpaste, shampoo -- yesterday i gave someone a calm. he did not think about having a comb and i happen to have anyone. things like that. small things that you maybe don't think about but are important. >> one thing you are saying is you do not need donations because you don't want food to be spoiled. but there is one way people can help out if they want to.

until further notice. here is the current cedar river laughable -- level as cedar rapids. just under 22 feet. it is now cresting. this will go down at the second- highest crest in history which dates back 165 years to the 1850s. we are expecting the river to slowly received through the overnight hours. keep in mind, major flooding is still occurring. is not expected to drop below twelfie until late weekend early next week. we are not out of the woods yet. mostly it will be breezy with a west wind. temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. tonight we could see isolated shower mainly north and east mostly cloudy with temperatures in the middle to upper 40s. the rest of the week looks dry with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s, maybe 70 by friday. thank you. you can join us again in the morning at 4:30. we will begin on cbs2. our next event is tonight at 5:00.
