know what you can expect for the rest of the week. cedar rapids is now moving on to the next step in flood 2016. we are not out of the woods yet. as you can see the high water in these videos from our drone but the waters are going back into the cedar river basin and that is major. the major threat starting to fade. right now it will be several days before the real cleanup takes place. as cbs two news reporter joe huisinga tells us we could be going down stream. joke? >>reporter: as you said, we're still it major flood stage now the conversation is starting to turn to sandbag disposal and

flood systems. right now the city is working on a plan to remove sandbags from residential properties to free of charge but they want people to be patient and have suggestions on how people can use them at their homes. it can be used for things like cleaning up oil spills and traction this winter. next week garbage service will be accepting two extra 35- gallon bags to help remove garbage that was not picked up during the last week. we've also been getting people asking why the city just doesn't use the temporary detection is more permanent system. a lot of the temporary protection doesn't have the proper materials for a permanent levy and some of the permanent levees in place already were letting water through during the high waters with the permit system we do not want to see anything like that happening. they want to rebuild the system with the proper materials and the proper oversight from the army corps of engineers in cedar

corridor in cr covering the corridor in cr sj cbs 2 news. the linn county sheriff's office is still inside the evacuation zone -- --but that's not stopping them from moving on.crews this morning started to take down the barriers built to keep the water away.the building basement, but didnt have any significant damage.officials tell cbs 2 news it will likely take about two days to remove all the barriers from around the building.they started out damage. the water would start coming into this building. we know the water is at that level right now. starting to go down. the front of the building is the highest. we want to get the sheriff's office in opperation as
