just how much damage was caused by cedar river flooding. this is what we know right now - in cedar rapids - 35 buildings inspected yesterday weren't impacted at all.two had some structure problems the could be fixed quickly.ten buildings could take up to a month to repair.inspectors couldn't get into five buildings. in palo, 22 buildings had minor damage. another 13 will take a month of repairs to get up to code. and three inaccessable. linn county emergency management is still compiling damage reports and will send out an updated list. cedar rapids leaders tell cbs 2 news--the city might not get as much federal funding to stimulate the economy because not as much damage was done this year as compared to 2008. in all of cedar rapids and palo - only one building in palo had major damage. damage.emergency management officials say only buildings that had major damage or were destroyed are considered when

on monday, the linn county courthouse on may's island - a place that was devastated in '08, will reopen after being closed only a week. more recovery efforts will continue throughout the weekend - and you now have a place to drop your sandbags. today, the city accepted both wet and dry sandbags at noelridge park. tomorrow, starting at 7 a-m, you can bring your sandbags to ellis park. the city is discussing when they could open >> tomorrow, bring your sandbags when they might open another dropoff site. commercial properties can drop them off at the former 6th street plant. sandbags from businesses can be dropped in select spots in check village and kingston village we placed the exact locations online. those sites will be open at 7:00 a.m.

>> it's been about a week now since we've been concerned about the river. we're happy to say that it continues to fall in eastern iowa. here's the latest stage, 14.8 feet. flood stage 12 feet. we move in that direction. by the time we get to midday sunday, it's expected to be below 12 be 10 feet by next week. one of the things you'll notice here, we have a lot of clouds coming from the east, a slow-moving disturbance continuing to spin around over the great lake states this will be a part of the forecast going into tomorrow. so far, we haven't seen much in the way of rain. maybe a little sprinkle here and there. that's all we expect this

area. temperatures in the 60s. major improvement expected on sunday. we'll talk about that coming up. facebook has been a critical spot for information during the flood. what began as an informative page is now a mission to feed thousands impacted by flood. cbs 2 news anchor joining us live now from the township hall to show us the >> reporter: the brown bag committee is a testament as to how wonderful our community is and how much everyone cares about each other. in about a week, they have sent out 14,000 meals, lunches and dinners to people in the evacuation zone, to volunteers, to the national guard, anyone that is in the area that could possibly need some food and right now, we have volunteers bagging up meals to be sent out

obvious flooding. there are places like parlor city that are hiring extra hands now to try to re-open sooner however, many workers can only watch and wait without a paycheck, or so they think. those affected by the flooding can actually file for unemployment. for businesses not operating or running with brewhemia's steve shriver - say they don't anticipate unemployment becoming a big issue. eastern iowa most of the highs remaining in the low to mid-60s. right now in cedar rapids, we're at 62 degrees you can see the low, the winds coming in from the north, the dew point up a little bit today to 58 degrees. and this weather system to the east continues to just sit and spin. once in a while, spokes of energy and that caused the clouds to increase today. you can see we're in the thick of those now. no rain to report, early brief showers or sprinkles will be a possibility. thanks to the clouds today, no higher, 60 was the high. waterloo got 66 this afternoon, but it took a while for the clouds to move from the east to the west. readings now are back into the

here's the weather system we're talking about. the center of it is located right there to the southwest of cincinnati. when you get this type of situation, spokes of energy rotate around the center of this disturbance and it causes the showers and once it comes around, it also punches the cloud cover into eastern iowa. with the storm track running to the north, there's nothing to move it along. it's not going to budge over it's what we call a cut off low. some of these showers in illinois will try to fight their way to the west some could get back into iowa today or tomorrow. the best chances will be in the east and even there, they're going to be widely scattered and on the light side. watch what happens], it gets kicked off to the east and

that brings us much warmer air for tuesday of the coming week and eventually, it will be the next chance of any showers or storms. i got to tell you, i think it's high, the amounts will be less as most of the heavier rains are to the east of us. so just light showers. tomorrow in iowa city, there's a chance of a stray shower or sprinkle it's not going to be a downpour. temperatures should be about 61 degrees for homecoming in iowa city, winds out of the north at 5-10 and for the iowa state game, an 11:00 kickoff and once again, plenty of clouds, about the same story tomorrow too. the forecast for tonight calls for cloudy skies, a stray shower or sprinkle a possibility late in the east.
