projected track of hurricane matthew as the deadly storm heads toward the u.s. eastern coast. weatherwise let's track it. we will go right to our satellite and radar and as you see it there is matthew slowly turning and moving toward the north and the west and you see it plugging along at 15-20 miles an hour. here is the latest. expected sometime late tonight an will roll along the east coast. it is expected to be in the carolinas by late friday into saturday. peak gusts 165 miles an hour and sustained winds at 140. we will keep you up-to-date as we roll through the next few days. 76 this afternoon and cloudy. right now doppler radar quiet with rain between cedar rapids and iowa city.

building is reaching new heights.stephanie? stephanie?well, jenee--the original visual arts building was damaged by the floods of oh eight so the university had to construct a new building and just take a look at it. it. the building cost seventy- seven million dollars to build. it took more than a year to complete.the finished product comes with nine galleries.as we toured the building we saw unique spaces for students and staff. the studio division coordinator says light was critical to the architecture. "the light that comes through this building is qutiessal to for it's performance and art students education. light comes in through the center it comes through the outer part of the building and the quality of light that students are working with is important especially when they're working with clay."

hurricane matthew. right now hurricane matthew is a category four and is expected to reach the florida coast tonight. the storms of maximum winds are 145 miles an hour last night it tore through the bahamas. in matthew is expected to keep that strength is it move -- moves towards florida coast. 1.5million people have been evacuated. this is a live look the winds -- two's things. most fatalities come from the storm surge. the winds and the water up the coast. let's look at the satellite and radar. the storm will keep its strength. if you imagine hurricane as a car, as it travels over land, unless you put gas in it it runs out. think of this hurricane the same way. right now it is there a big gas

johnson county and that's where we saw rain this morning. cedar rapids cloudy as we look out the door. 67 degrees with southeast winds at 12. 67 in iowa city. dubuque, monticello 66. 65 in tama as we look at the winds they are out of the south and east at five-15 miles an hour. around the state he we are more 60s and okoro mid to upper 70s for us and 60s back to the north and west. there we see the next shower activity developing back towards north and west iowa and write in between is an area of low pressure and the cold front. that frontal boundary will serve as fuel for boundary as we watch our own showers and storms move through.
