we are at 83 right now and a beautiful evening is in progress. up north, there are thunderstorms in minnesota and wisconsin and that will not be a factor for us. even though a front is coming through the region, it looks like a dry one. right now the temperatures in many areas are in the low to mid 80s. as warm as 85 and iowa city. over the next several days, we will start a then we will have seasonable temperatures back with us. most of us will be in the low for falsely reporting an active shooter on campus. police arrested harrison tsimourisafter the incident saturday night. night.police say he sent a text message to a friend saying there was an active shooter in burge residence hall.the friend then told police.after officers arrived and evacuated the building - tsimouris sent the same student another text saying it was all a joke.he's charged with filing a false report.

with two major floods in eight years - even city manager jeff pomeranz can see why businesses may be skeptical of locating downtown. downtown."it would have been easy for a company looking for a new headquarters to say, 'no, i think i'll go somewhere else.'"turns out - the threat of future flooding isn't scaring businesses like hibu from setting up shop in the heart of cedar rapids.mayor ron corbett says the company's downtown commitment is a crucial victory for the city. city."they actually looked at space not just in cedar rapids, but outside of cedar rapids. so to keep these jobs in cedar rapids was critical." large companies aren't alone in choosing downtown. ironically - the flood of '08 is aiding aspiring downtown entrepreneurs.economic development manager jasmine almoayed says some of the money left over from the disaster's relief fund is kickstarting small businesses as part of the city's micro loan program. program."there's actually a lot more interest than what we had originally anticipated. we didn't think it would be this high of a demand."modteets

a moment. we are still at 83 for the temperature right now and that is impressive considering that the sun is already setting. the wind is out of the south/southwest at 10. the dew point that was at 68 has gone down a bit. it was a summary day to say the least. here in cedar rapids, we reached 85 degrees for the high temperature. if we had had one more biscuit for breakfast, we may have gotten up to 86 and we would've tied the record. that near record temperatures around the area's this afternoon -- the area this afternoon. you can see the line right along highway 20. it is 80 in tama and 82 in monticello. 83 in cedar rapids and 85 around iowa city. there is a strong warm front in place across minnesota and wisconsin and you can see thunderstorms up that way and

that will not be a factor for us. even though a cold front will eventually come through, it does not look like it will produce showers or thunderstorms for us. so, today we have the south wind blowing and that is what set the temperature soaring this afternoon. this cold front will come through later tonight. from the looks of things, it should arrive around 4:00-5:00 in the morning and by six a clock a.m., it should be to the east. -- 6:00 a.m., it should be just to the east. we're not expecting rain. maybe a few clouds tomorrow morning and then later in the day we are back in high pressure. while the temperatures may be quite a bit cooler, still above normal readings are expected. we will take you to the predictor and as we go through the overnight hours, there are some showers and storms up near the minnesota border. as the front goes through,

they will vanish and by tomorrow afternoon we should be back into sunshine and we should ourselves another pleasant day. from the looks of things, while temperatures are down 15-20 degrees, temperatures will be in the upper 60s late tomorrow afternoon and that's where we will stay again on wednesday. as far as the rainfall goes, i don't see too much of that as we go through the week. it looks like much of that will be to the north and south -- southeast of us. for you farmers in the fields, it looks like the weather should be conducive to that as we keep the precipitation generally out of our viewing area. tonight look for the low temperatures in the low to mid 50s and around 60s in the south. skies will be partly cloudy. tomorrow early morning clouds and then we should be mostly sunny with temperatures in the 60s to the north and lower 70s to the south. 67 in waterloo. 68 in dubuque in cedar rapids. here is the long-range forecast
