the leader of a statewide community organization organizationnow wants cedar rapids mayor ron corbett to explain - in person - why the city council rejected plans for affordable housing. housing.cbs 2 news first told you last week - the council didn't have enough votes to move forward on the crestwood apartment plan near edgewood road northwest.supporters say the multi-million dollar development would set aside units to help homeless people. 500 neighbors signed a petition against it - caused city leaders to reconsider the proposal altogether.the mayor meets with the leader of jaycees tonight. new information informationon a story we've been following.the oklahoma man that's been on the run for more than a week - is now dead. dead.michael vance junior was shot and killed by police officers late last night.he was killed in a shootout 130 miles northwest of oklahoma city.that massive manhunt

and shot two police officers. happening right now at the university of iowa -- --police are investigating a reported case of sexual assault on campus.authorities tell cbs 2 news it allegedly happened late saturday night at a dorm on the east side of campus.university leaders are recquired to report any claim of sexual assault for campus safety. new questions this morning - over the body camera policy at iowa state university. university.iowa state campus cameras this past summer - but the des moines register found out - their policy isn't public knowledge.that's because the department hasn't adopted a formal policy - and hasn't set a timeline on when one will be written. the des moines register reports - the justice department recommends agencies have policies in place before using body cameras.it also gives the public an understanding of when cameras should be on or off. since isu officers

three of their nearly 300 arrests involved weapons. next spring - the iowa national guard says it will close its algona readiness the justice department recommends agencies have say the unit based there and the 90 soldiers assigned there - will move to camp dodge in johnston. the algona base is the 13th to close as part of a statewide national guard consolidation and upgrade. the current armory will be turned over to the city of algona. right now, several eastern iowa groups are in the final hours of a collection drive to address a major need for new mothers.operation diaper drive is being put on by the eastern iowa health center and the young parents network.their goal is to collect 100,000 donated diapers by halloween they are three-fourths of the way there.you can still help -- donation bins are located at 13-hyvee stores across

radar shows plenty of cloud cover for the rest of the day but we will see clouds transition out of the forecast. right now they are coming in along a a warm front and that will push in warm air to us and keep us mild today and tomorrow. we will be even warmer tomorrow with more sunshine. cold front will start to slide closer to us and will bring clouds right back in overnight into wednesday. maybe a couple of showers tuesday night but more so the chance on wednesday. we can see that clearing as we head into tuesday. nice sunny skies expected tuesday afternoon. maybe a shower or two before midnight but most of that will be after midnight and hitting through the day on wednesday. here is your forecast today.
