what to expect as we head into the weekend. clear and calm tonight. could see areas of patchy fog. sunny and perfect tomorrow. slightly cooler on sunday and we'll keep the sunshine around. high and dry over the corridor as we back out over eastern iowa. no rain in the forecast for the next several days. by the time you get up tomorrow morning, clear and calm, a little chilly. patchy fog. around 43 to 44 in iowa city. in the afternoon sunshine and temperat i'll let you know what to expect on sunday in your weather first forecast in a few minutes. we now know the name of the officer involved in the shooting tuesday night in cedar rapids. authorities are talking to officer lucas jones. police tell cbs 2 news earlier this week jones pulled over jeremy mitchell at about 1:00 a.m. when he started to fight with the officer who then shot him. mitchell trove away and hit two

taken to the hospital. involved in a 20-15 d-c-i investigation into another shooting.he was cleared in that shooting which killed jonathan goosman. developing right now - another corridor school employees is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. student.marcus cain used to work for the linn-mar distrct. he was charged after investigators say he sent a pornographic image to a student. tracking the latest developments from the newsroom. dora. cain admitted to sending, what police called, obscene images to a 17 year old student. student.district officals contacted investigators last month when they found out about the inappropriate behavior. the 26 year old is no longer employed by the district and was arrested this week on monday. he was released on a promise to appear in court. marion police say although they didn't find many pictures... this serves as a reminder that everyone should be careful when it

"electronic media can provide another avenue for people to get in trouble and there's electronic media can provide another opportunity for people to get in trouble and there is only so much that the schools are able to do to monitor that activity. it is really up to the parents to make sure they are having a conversation with their children about that type of activity and that their monitoring what their kids are doing. now with cane's charge he could face up to a year in jail. his initial dora miller, cbs 2 news. a former cedar rapids substitute teacher accused of sexually exploiting a student is now pleading not guilty to a felony charge. authorities upgrade the charge last week. admitted to the relationship to cbs 2 news back in july.if convicted, haglin faces five years in prison and a maximum five-thousand dollar fine.

tragic linn county crash. crash.16-year-old selena apodaca and 13-year-old isabella severson were killed when a pick up rear-ended the car they were in.authorities tell cbs 2 news - two cars were waiting to turn onto county home road when the truck slammed into one of the vehicles.the girl's mother - 37-year-old jennifer perez and two other daughters were also in the car.one of the daughters was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.the drivers of other cars were not seriously hurt. a go-fund-me page for the family - already exceeded it's goal.so far - nearly 27-thousand dollars has been raised for the family.the creator of the fund says all the money will go towards helping pay for the funeral for the two girls lost. cbs 2 news has new details on the investigation into the attack on iowa's finest. finest.the man charged with killing two des moines metro

today.scott michael greene is being held in the polk county jail on a 10-million dollar bond.he is accused of shooting and killing urbandale police officer justin martin and des moines police segeant anthony beminio early wednesday morning.authorities caught up with greene in rural dallas county where he surrended to police. the daughters of the suspect are speaking out today.in a statement to cbs 2 news - they said quote - "as the daughters of the accused, we would they said "as the daughters of the accused, we would like to say and express our deepest sympathy to the families of the lost and r officers themselves. we do not condone what our father has done. it was a shock to even us that a man we knew so well was capable of doing something so tragic but we were taught to love unconditionally so we will live with what was instill upon set for both officers.

his home town of rockwell city. a visitation is scheduled for monday from four to eight in the evening.it will be held at south central calhoun middle school in rockwell city.the funeral will follow on tuesday morning at 11-40 at the school. 11-40 was officer martin's badge number.the urbandale police department is retiring that number. a visitation for sergeant anthony beminio will be held on sunday afternoon from two-to-five at of hope in west des moines.his funeral will be held at the church on monday at eleven.he will be laid to rest in the glendale cemetery in des moines. both officers graduated from the iowa law enforcement academy.right now - the academy's current class is trying to push forward to serve just like their fallen br. brothers.instructor's at the academy tell cbs 2 both basic academy classes are taking care of each other - still working toward a career goal

police officers in des moines and urbandale but today we're trying to rally together here and we're adorning some cars, some vehicles in their back windshield with a blue stripe to show support and solidarity for those officers' lost and those that are still serving. it will go until 6:30 so you have 20 or so minutes let. get out here and show your support and solidarity difficult and trying time. officers are asking that we keep this stripe on our vehicles until tuesday and that is when the final officer, officer martin will be laid to rest. back to you in the studio karen. thanks. we hope those can get out for 20 more minutes. they have a new option. the airport is celebrating a
