right now - -black friday... kicks off the holiday shopping season for many.cbs 2 news reporter mellaney moore talked to local business owners - who want you to remember their stores are ready for tomorrow - on small business saturday. the iowa city downtown district says small business saturday is the start of holiday activities.business owners there tell me there are

there was a storm. >> yes. >> they were shoveling off the field so not dealing with that. >> we're thankful. >> yes. a little cool out there, but not that bad. we had the cool weather because we have had clouds for several days and it has been quite sometime since we have seen the sunshine but it is on the way. the clear skies are going to start in the overnight hours now that the sun has come down. we're seeing some clearing. i am watching this with clouds out to the west that invade the area later on tomorrow, but i still think we'll see plenty of sunshine into the weekend. not just the sunshine but also some warmer temperatures. in fact, we'll be about ten degrees above normal during this weekend then we'll have some rain that will come on down for the party and lead to cooler temperatures once again and that is going to arrive late sunday night into monday and we'll be back in reality next week with temperatures cooling down once again.

by morning we'll see some of that sunshine. temperatures will start in the upper 20s and close to 30 degrees across the corridor tomorrow morning. then if you don't have any plans this weekend, temperatures are going to be quite mild. we'll be in the 50s. that rain doesn't arrive until late sunday night and into monday. if you haven't gone outside and you need time to decorate, this weekend will be a good one to do so. temperatures typically this time of year and we'll be 10 to 15 degrees above the normals into this weekend and parts of monday. it is ahead of a big storm system that will lead to the rain later on sunday. the winds shift and on saturday, plenty of sunshine. it will be a little breezy but that will bring in the warmer air. then sunday, we'll see clouds move in and then some rain. most will likely hold off until

the storm moves through but it is going to stay rather warm on sunday. the storm lingers on monday. that will keep the warmth around for several days. for this time of year it is a strong storm in terms of the rainfall. of course sometimes it can come with snow. this time it will be straight rain and we'll get about a half- inch area wide which we could use because this month has been pretty dry overall. we have had about two or three days of measure rable rainfall november so we could use just a bit as we head through the end of this weekend, but most of the weekend will be nice and tonight will be nice, as well. decreasing clouds. cold. temperatures in the mid 20s in the north to near 30 degrees near and south of highway 20, 29 cedar rapids, 30 down in iowa city. 32 in washington. then tomorrow everybody is going to get a warmup. ten degrees warmer than today.
