>> alan: a seven-year-old girl is in the hospital after being attacked bay pit bull today. this is the second pit bull attack in just three days. amy holiefield is another children's hospital in oakland with more. report roirt just met with the girl's sauer, -- saturday -- sister and she says surgery went she was meeting the doing for the first time, and the owner was assuring her that the dog is okay, and after she was bitten, she kept saying over and over again, he said he would be fine. police don't know what provoked the dog but it bit the seven-year-old in the face. police handled the dog and talked to its owner while

firefighters helped the little girl. >> she was very scared when we arrived. we tried to calm her and comfort her and tell her things were going to be okay. as a seven-year-old child, she doesn't understand. all she knows is a dog bit her. so we're trying to comfort her and get her the hospital. >> reporter: animal control officials now have the dog. this is the second high-profile pit-bull attack to happen here in the bay area within the last two days. the firefighters tell us dog bites are actually very common. just yesterday here in oakland, a postal worker was bitten in the leg by a pit bull. >> alan: on thursday, two-year-old boy, a concord boy, died after being attacked by three of his family's pit bulls. the contra costa county superror is looking into legislation to try and prevent another attack. san francisco has a mandatory spay and neuter law that was

passed after a 12-year-old boy was mauled to death in 2005. firefighters beat back the flames of a wildfire and saved a home in northeastern solano county today. the fire broke out along clement road, between vacaville and dixon, neighbors credited a man with alerting a 76-year-old woman who was alone and asleep when the flames came within a few feet of her home. >> i ran to her house. went to her house, tried to open the door. she wasn't answering the door. another lady came up, and got her out. and the firemen came and helped and got her dog at the end. >> alan: the wildfire burned about 25-acres and destroyed a shed, along with some other outbuildings. one forthof firefighter is expected to recover after suffering from heat exhaustion and smoke inhill -- inhalation.

and folks called 9-1-1 after they saw business fire burning but it was a scheduled controlled burn in a field a few miles south of infinon raceway. parents were on edge as their children took the soccer field in newhall park. police shut down the park yesterday and dead detonated a pipe bomb that was found. >> we feel safe here. just here to play soccer. >> reporter: this wasn't a normal game day after three pipe bombs were found in this park. >> made us a little nervous coming to the soccer tournament, but told our family what went on and be aware of their surroundings, and still a little an princess. >> walk in kind of -- yes, yes. >> looking for anything suspicious? >> yes, yeah. >> reporter: after all, on

friday afternoon, 25 officers, along with the walnut creek bomb squad and five explosive-sniffing bombs combed the area for pipe bombs. one was found on friday by a jogger along this trail bordering turtle creek road. who other pipe bombs were discovered on wednesday. >> the opinion of the experts was they were constructed in a manner consistent with a pipe bomb, and to determine whether or not they were an actual pipe bomb, the substances have to be taken to a lab. >> reporter: the bombs're dead nateed on the sidelines of this soccer field and the crater has been filled in. >> extra patrols through this area were requested. when our day shift units came on they have made frequent patrols through the area and that's going to continue throughout the weekend. >> reporter: parents and players were told to not pick up item that didn't belong to them. >> there was juan -- one item,
