check it out now. at&t. ♪ park. but the outside lands festival is creating a traffic mess in the neighborhood surrounding the park. we're live with more on that story. >> reporter: alan, we're parked here. more than a block away from the concert, which is going on in golden gate park just on the other side of those trees. parking in this area is really a problem, which is i would concert promoters were asking people to take public transportation to the concert so as not to create traffic jams and perhaps even park their car

illegally and get towed. >> the polo fields of golden gate park filled up quickly this morning. while the mood is festive here outside the park, traffic slowed to a crawl. many of these cars filled with ticketholders are trying to fine parking in already car-congested neighborhoods. >> we have had people asking us if they can park in our driveway all day long, and unfortunately you'll get towed in this neighborhood if your park your car in somebody's driveway. >> reporter: other residents say the crowds which are expected to top 100,000 people this weekend aren't that big a deal. >> not as noisy not as many people driving up the street. this is three times the amount of traffic we get on a normal weekend. >> he says the increase isn't a problem. in fact it helped rigs garage sale. >> traffic has been good. no problems here.

>> reporter: many of the attendees got the message that parking would be tough. one taxi dropped off people, and buses were filled to overflowing. they rescheduled its drivers to coincide with the crowd, especially after the concert lets out. >> we know we have to add extra service after the cob certain. >> reporter: that's good news. she says last year muni service after the concert what too slow. >> after the concert, everybody was really stuck waiting for public transportation. >> reporter: what happened? >> you have all the concert goers hanging out inside your hallway, drinking beer, and it's a nuisance. >> reporter: concert promoters say they're trying be good neighbors this year. they have two tow trucks standing by in case anyone has a problem with someone parking in their driveway or parking illegally. abc-7 news. >> alan: if you plan on taking public transit to the concert

either tonight or tomorrow, we have information about muni posted on our web site go to abc7.com and click on, see it on tv. crews began the work of tearing down san francisco's old transbay terminal today. it's being demolished to create more room for the temporary terminal which opened last weekend. workers are taking out a ramp that connected the terminal to interstate 80. east howard street will be closed until monday morning. the work continues next weekend as well. the new $1.5 billion transbay terminal is set to open in 2017. oakland police need your help tracking down a truck driver believed to have beaten another truck driver to death during an apparent case of road rage. take a look at this sketch of the attacker. the attack happened three weeks ago today outside the port of oakland. witnesses say the attacker was driving a white freightliner.

meg who itman has crossed the $100 billion mark. he sass written a $13 million check to her campaign for governor, bricking the -- bringing her total contribution to $104 million. compare that to jerry brown who has spent less than $800,000 so far. but keep in mind brown didn't have to spend much money during the primary campaign because unlike who itman he didn't face a serious challenger. brown does have $23 million in the bank but he is holding on it to until it gets closer to election time. president obama and the first family traveled to panama city florida today. they are trying to encourage tourism to the gulf coast and reassure the residents who still haven't seen a penny of b.p.'s $20 million compensation fund. we have more. >> reporter: president obama along with the first lady and

daughter sasha are in panama city florida. they hope to show the gulf coast is back in business after the massive oil spill. both the president and first lady made separate visits to the pan handle earlier this summer to encourage visitors to come. the area has been struggling to recover from a major drop in summer tourism due to concerns about oil and tar balls that have spilled on the beaches inch meetings mr. obama heard concerns over long-term effects of the spill on the environment and the economy. afterwards mr. obama re-affirmed his support. >> i'm here to tell you that our job is not finished, and we are not going anywhere until it is. >> reporter: the president promised action for frustrated gulf coast residents who have not yet received any money from the $20 billion b.p. compensation fund. >> i want to be clear about this. any delays by b.p. or those managing the new fund are

unacceptable, and i will keep pushing to get these claims expedite it. >> reporter: some business leaders welcomed the first family visit, and say it sends a positive message. >> we hope it shows the united states as well as the world that panama city beach is still open for business. >> reporter: the president says he plans to go swimming in the gulf but not with tv cameras rolling. someone yelled they thought it would be a good idea. the first lady yelled back, no, it wouldn't. abc news washington. >> alan: in florida, president obama reiterated that muslims hey -- have the right to build the mosque near ground zero. that doesn't mean he human beings it's a good idea. today he responded to critics who claimed that at at it amounts to an entersement of the ground zero plan. >> i will not comment on the

advocates healed a rally calling for social security to remain intact. this on the day that president franklin roosevelt signed the social security act into law 75 years ago. rally organizers don't want cuts in social security benefits or an increase in the retirement age to fix the federal government's deficit woes. >> we're here to say we want it for another 75 years. i want it for my grandchildren, who are going to be born right after labor day. they're going to be triplets and they want their social security 65 years from how to. >> alan: organizers released a report called "social security works for california." it said program cuts would hurt seniors and children who live with their grandparents and rely on social security for income. >> this weekend is the 66th 66th anniversary of the japanese surrender and the end of the second world war. veterans attended a sell

>> alan: four people were killed and four others wounded inñç a shooting in buffalo, new york, overnight. witnesses say gunfire erupted after someone had to be escorted out of a restaurant where a large party was taking place. one suspect was charged with four counts of second degree murder. one of the dead was a man celebrating his first wedding anniversary. his wife was not hurt. it's a day of cleanup in the midwest after vicious storms and tornadoes swept through overnight. >> reporter: it was a wild night in the midwest as rain wind and even tornadoes push ud throw the plains. >> real stressful.

you think you lost everything. >> reporter: this tornado landed in haye field, minnesota. 93-miles-an-hour winds bear down on kansas leaving 15,000 without power. these cows in wisconsin didn't fare much better. flashfloods caused the water to rise without warning trapping them in the field. this storm is on the heels of three days of rain vicious system that has left much of iowa underwear. >> hello 9-1-1. >> we're going under water right now. there's nowhere to go. oh, my god. >> this 16-year-old drowned trapped in her car in rising water in ames, 50,000 had no access to drinking expweart sewers are backing up. fema is providing bottled water. >> each load can provide enough water for 5,000 people for a

day. >> it seems like everyone in the midwest is seeking relief. if it isn't from storms, it's from record-breaking heat. abc news. >> alan: after watching that we really shouldn't complain about our cool summer. >> leigh: the storms moving towards the southeastern part of the united states. we will keep an eye on those. here it has been a nice day today, alan, with all eyes looking on san jose. it has been an exceptionally cool day across the bay area. inland locations managing highs in the mid-80s. in pant antioch right now, 81 a mild 77 in concord. san francisco, and the golden gate bridge reporting fog, and we have 59 with low clouds at half moon bay, 72 novato. so the low clouds and fog will

come in. we will have sunshine inland and have the clouds near the coast and we will gate little bit of a break monday and tuesday. you can definitely see on our closeup satellite, the clearing inland today. the fog near the coast. right now we're getting a pretty good west wind with gusts up to 23 miles-per-hour at sfo. so all of this near the cost will just move inland overnight tonight. overnight temperatures, low 50s near san francisco and half moon bay and then bringing it up to the mid-to-upper 50s in the east bay. antioch, 56, and 53 for napa. we have several areas of low pressure. one, two three. all of these moving in our direction. and this is pretty much the setup all summer long. so yes we have another round of lows to move in here. this one will move in overnight tonight. that will increase low clouds and fog.

a little break monday and tuesday, and then the secondary and third one will move in as we head into the wednesday and thursday time period, and temperatures will come back down. so a seesaw effect for next few days. tomorrow morning look for low clouds and fog. we will keep them near the coast. and we manage some upper 70s to low 80s. here's a look at some selected cities for you. san jose tomorrow will realize 72 degrees there. campbell morning overcast afternoon sunshine 73. we look for mist and drizzle. inland, a few miles we bump up into the 60s. 58 for redwood city. san francisco tomorrow overcast 62. in the north bay, santa rosa, afternoon sun, 74 degrees there. sonoma, 74. oakland, 66. 69 for castro valley. the east bay is where some of the mild numbers will be.
