missing since the blast happened on thursday night. >> his sister has been going to the -- went to the rec center to find him, and we have been calling the local hospitals. they don't have any listings. >> reporter: officials have said everyone was accounted for, which was frustrating and hurtful. >> i felt like, why are they treating me -- do they not count? >> reporter: new information was released tonight that finally included his family. >> we're up to seven fatilities, and six people now missing. >> reporter: to this family, this is more than just numbers. it was confirmation. greg's twin brother went to this facebook page, saying, we have additional word. anyone else missing is prowled dead. mom, greg,, and willy have not been found. >> they're not just gone in the mist. >> reporter: officials say they're doing their vis in a very challenging situation. they don't know if someone is

missing unless the family makes a report. they're asking everyone to come to the veterans memorial recreation center and report in so they can get a full count. >> we have been asking people to check in. some cases people haven't come forward. >> reporter: officials are hoping some of the missing will check in. >> we have three areas we have yet to check. the numbers could change a little bit. hoping for good news tomorrow. >> reporter: the family is assuming la von, greg and will are gone. friends say they're ready to be there for the family. including janine, who lost her brother, father, and grandmother. >> a lot of help from friends and family and her church. we're going need all the help we can get. >> reporter: one relative told me the family is a very tight, loving family, with a strong faith in god, and that will help get them through this. this is one example of what one

announcement from city officials can mean, can do, how it can affect one family. a lot of emotion here in san bruno. amy holly field, abc-7 news. >> alan: thank you, amy. tonight, the evacuees have gotten word they will be allowed to return to their homes starting at noon tomorrow as long as the homes are inhabitable, they will be given a wrist ban and be allowed to enter. the area around the explosion will remain offlimits as the investigation continues. peoples whose homes have been red or yellow tagged will be barred from entering. >> emotions bubbled over and tempers flared at a town hall meeting where city leaders trade to answer questions from a crowd of anxious evacuees, lisa amin gulezian was at the town hall meeting in san bruno. >> this has been a tragedy of immense proportions. >> reporter: the words were necessary to start a franks

conversation between san bruno aren'ts aren'ts and their city leaders. >> i need to let you know, though, your neighborhood is far from restored. i. >> reporter: many should regain access to their homes tomorrow. but those whose house were destroyed will be shut out. >> our neighbors is gone, our house is gone. >> i just want my house back, a place to stay. >> reporter: evac wheeze still fill the service center for help with shelter, insurance and support. for the questions they couldn't get answered here, they came here. >> we're looking for a plan, and also like everything in life, the bills keep coming, so we're looking for help, financial help, be basically lost everything. >> reporter: stay and city leaders answered a range of questions. >> when and if will the garbage be picked up? >> we will consult with san bruno garbage to make sure that occurs.

>> if they build our house again and go back to that place, would it be safe for us to live there again? >> reporter: several gas and pipeline related questions went directly to pg&e, including this one. a resident asked if gas pipe locations can be released. >> there's a security issue associated with providing gas transmission specifics. [bleep] >> and -- applaud applaud. [applause] >> excuse me. this meeting will be conducted in a proper manner. if you can't hold yourself that way, we will escort you out. this city has been through enough grief. >> reporter: emotions were hard to hide. anger, frustration, sadness, all of it came to this meeting. there are plenty of people outside as well. they say it's simply not worth their time to sit inside there. they're not getting the answers they need. >> confusion, and they don't know the answers.

>> reporter: after the deadly explosion, some answers are still hard to come by. in san bruno. lisa amin gulezian, abc-7 news. >> alan: the service of the gas pipeline that exploded was classified as high risk because of its proximity to homes, only 7% of gas pipelines have that tess sig nation across the nation. >> reporter: traffic is still blocked here. earlier today we got a briefing from the ntsb which investigates pipeline accidents. pg&e had now way to automatically shut off the gas once the pipe run pureed, and the pipeline contained a number of seams, including one that ran lengthwise around the pipe. right away, federal investigators noticed something curious about the pipeline that blew out of the ground. i was not sol split -- solid and

seemless. it was segments welded together. >> there are lots of reasons to have segmented pipes like this, and that's what they're exploring. it's obviously more expensive to have segments pipes than unsegmented pipes. >> reporter: the ntsb confirms that pg&e had manual valves on either side of the break, not automatic valves to stop the flow of gas. the pipeline that exploded was mauled in 1956 when there were fewer homes here. because the area is so heavily populated now. the public utilities designated the pipeline high risk. >> increases in our estimation the need to look at that issue of whether there should be automatic shutoff valves when there's a massive leak in the pipe which would be signaled bay pressure drop. >> reporter: the latest

measurement shows the crater left by the blast to be 167 feet long and 26 feet wide. the soil was too unstable to determine how deep it is, senator barbara boxer is calling on regulators to expand their inspection. >> there could be corrosion, faulty parts, and excavation so we have to be very clear we're trying to prevent this from happening again and the first way is to do these inspections s in a priority or order where you have population. >> reporter: natural gas has no odor. the ntsb says the gas in this line was odorized, creating that natural gas smell, which some residents claim they smelled in the weeks leading up to this
