the national league west. the great sign, home baby, with a real baby in there. that's good propmaking. bottom three sanchez triples. 1-0 giants. in the 8th. buster posey with a home run for insurance. no drama. brian wilson in the ninth. strikes out will venable to win it. mike shumann joins us live from at&t park. shu, they got a few thousand fans and nobody wants to go home. >> mike: they've been waiting since 2003 larry, and there's nothing like the field, and we always joked, take 162 games to decide the national league west title? well it did today. giants beat the padres. they're letting the fans run the bases, and everybody is taking advantage. i would, too. then they tried to keep us off the field for the celebration.

we said no way. we're going to let the viewers see what it feels like to win a title especially a guy lie aubrey huff who has never been there check it out. [cheers and applause] >> mike: there's no greater feeling -- and this just gets you into the playoffs. we have been waiting since 2003 for this. this team is jacked. a lot of stories this year aubrey huff. buster posey, the big home run. and aubrey huff has never been to the playoffs in his ten-year career. i asked him what it felt like. >> we knew it would come down to this. man, i don't have the words. >> don't know what's going to happen. we win this game, going to be huge for us. we won the game and then

on to the streets. >> reporter: the one word we kept hearing over and over was "finally." after logses on friday -- losses on friday and saturday the giants pull out a win and the crowd went crazy. unlike the past two games of the series fans felt good throughout the whole game. a lot less anxiety as the giants take an early lead, and confidence grew this would be the day. there was a lot of concern that giants wouldn't be able to deliver but now they're looking ahead to the playoffs. giants fans have been patient. it's been seven years since their beloved team has made the playoffs. >> we got up at 3:30 in the morning to get down here because we were so excited. we couldn't wait to get here and see them win. >> we got what we wanted. >> after all these years, gave away the last two. we knew they would come back.

we're stoked and ready to celebrate. >> the place is rocking. you guys are awesome. we love everybody. >> woo-hoo! >> all the way! >> reporter: a big relief tonight. fans can take a breath and save the victory. what a way to end the weekend. abc-7 news. >> alan: a lot of celebrations to last throughout the night. let's switch gears and talk about serious news. the contra costa county sheriff's department released a description of a man who type to rape a woman at the same apartment where five previous attacks have taken place. last night's incident at the park regency apartments in walnut creek is the fifth attack there since june. the victim gave this description. a medium build 5'8" facial hair a black t-shirt and jeans and a black baseball hat.

antonio mouton was arrested and charged with three of the attacks. so far police aren't sure if last night's attack is related to the fourth one that took place three weeks ago. this evening cleanup crews resume their efforts to clean up over a thousand gallons of diesel fuel that leaked into storm drains in san jose. the problem started last night when a tank that helps fuel an emergency generator sprang a leak. the generator provides backup pour for at&t's buildings which supports the 9-1-1 system. some of the diesel fuel made it into the river but some residents feel more could have been done to protect the river. >> just for one boom to put downsteam of -- downstream of where the accident occurred is not enough. should have been way more agencies involved in handling this especially when they know

travel alert for americans heading to europe. the alert follows reports that terrorists may be planning attacks on major tourist attractions and other public places, particularly in paris, england and italy. u.s. intelligence believes osama bin laden is behind the plot that would be fashioned after the command style attacks that took place in mumbai, india two years ago. the alert is drawing mixed reaction from travelers. >> can't just get on a plane and go you have to worry about if you're going to make it home alive. >> afraid of flights being cancelled, but everything is running pretty good. >> alan: tourism officials worry that today's alert will hurt europe's economy. a california voters haven't voted on the ballot measure to legalize pot but the city of oakland are acting as if is were a done deal. last year you would be hard-pressed to find city leaders at an event called.
