good morning. thanks for joining us. i'm carolyn tyler. all ten fleet ships along the waterfront are now open for tours and there will be crowds. later today, tens of thousands of people will line up to watch the fleet week air show starring the navy's blue angels.

yesterday was their first performance since 2008 after bad weather prevented last year's show. amy hollyfield reports. >> blue angel fans have waited two years for the performance they couldn't fly last year because of the fog but this year the weather was perfect. as they twirled the crowd seemed more than satisfied about the show. >> i'm so excited about the blue angels. >> some of the youngest didn't appreciate the noise but many of the elders think it's important for them to be here. >> to bring the kids to see all the military put on the show. >> the blue angels is the grand finale. huge crowd at pier 39 to meet the blue angels. >> they are great. they are outstanding men there. good guys.

[ applause ] >> they were clamoring to meet the pilots. >> some people never grow up. i think it's the allure of aviation. to make nationwide and we all enjoyed it. >> it's not just about activities at the waterfront. the first division marine band played a concert at huntington park. senator dianne feinstein sat on the front row. the idea is to bring it into the neighborhoods of san francisco. >> this really puts you in contact with some of the people in the armed services and you get to pressure another side of the whole picture. >> the air show continues with fireworks capping off a full day of entertainment that was fun for participants and performers. >> you can't fly a prettier

place than san francisco, it's an amazing place to fly. >> organizers wanted -- you see impressive ships along the embarcadero. there are ten of them this year. last year there was only one. we have the fleet week schedule on our website and a video of yesterday's blue angels performance. bottom are at www.abc7.com. the weather is looking fine for those activity and everything else around the bay. let's check in with lisa argen. >> we do have fog here. take a look from mount tam a very shallow layer across the bay and it will burn back. here is the deal. we are looking at the fog from san francisco on south down through the monterey bay just until about 10:00 or 11:00 hour. it stays right at the shoreline you are going to see another day

getting quite warm in the inland valleys. if you are headed downtown sunny skies with temperatures in the lower 70s a lot like yesterday, a few high clouds but we have a fire weather watch in effect for tomorrow nate through wednesday. >> thank you lisa. >> this morning santa clara county fire investigators are back at the scene of a fire that destroyed a radio station. that fire started around 5:00 in the afternoon and it also burned five acres. it wasn't fully controlled until after 1:00 this morning. cleanup crews to see what is left of a transformer building lease today asian lands station. smoke didn't contaminate the food because the production area is tightly controlled.

>> there was another under ground pg&e explosion in the financial district yesterday afternoon. the impact launching a 100 pound manhole cover into the air. around 4:00 on sacramento street. no one was injured. a bartender at the time says his customers bolted out of the bar thinking was an earthquake. >> the lights started flashing on and off. the place filled with smoke. boom, it was like a kaboom windows breaking and cars screeching. >> fire and smoke shot out of another manhole nearby. pg&e will only say that an underground cable failed. this is the third one this year. just last month there was underground fire at sutter and montgomery caused by a failed cable. >> today is the first world

homeless day. they will mark the situation with a rally. they will lead a march to a downtown property and they will occupy on the vacant house on behalf of homeless families. they say 6,000 people in san francisco are homeless and similar events are planned all over the world today. >> mayor gavin newsom kicked off a campaign. he wants them to approve the sit line measure. proper "l" would ban lying down on city sidewalks. >> there is nothing compassionate about stepping someone over the sidewalk. there is nothing compassionate about walking by someone that is suffering.

north korean president kim jong-il and heir apparent son was viewed in public today. kim jong un sat next to his father. it was his most public appearance as the regime's next leader nearly two weeks ago. the parade celebrates the anniversary the north korean workers party and one of few times the outside world has been invited in to the country. >> rescuers in chile say they will bring trapped miners up to the surface as early as wednesday. the crews successfully reached the miners that have been trapped underground since august 5th. now more on the rescue plan.

>> finally their 33 fathers sons and brothers have an escape route. when the drill team came down to meet the families they were treated like conquering heroes. >> this is rescue capsule. chile minister of mines says on examination of rescue shaft found most of it very solid. there is concern about loose rocks at the top. first 200 feet will be lined with steel. >> so here is what the plan looks like. through monday morning they will be lining the top 300 feet with steel casing. then they have to move that equipment away and replace it with a winch that will lift it to the surface with the men inside. that is expected to take until tuesday evening and rescue should begin sometime wednesday. if everything goes to plan they

believe the entire rescue can be done in two days which means all the men should be lifted to freedom by sometime thursday. today pakistan rolled a border crossing into afghanistan where two pakistani soldiers were mistakenly killed by an american helicopter. insurgents attacked and destroyed some 150 nato supply fuel trucks. former pakistan president says the stressed relations with the united states stem from the u.s. government's resistance to negotiating for peace. >> i take strong exception to the statements which have been going on maybe since 2004 because over misunderstanding of ground realities and which i used to be saying after defeating the taliban after 9/11

builds. right now it's a little cooler in san francisco and at our coast. notice mid-50s there. elsewhere numbers already climbing to the low mid and even upper 60s. 24 hours ago we were warmer in san francisco and half moon bay. we definitely cooled off with that sea breeze 3-7 degrees here warmer here and it will be confined to the immediate shoreline because high pressure sits on of the coast today. coastal and bay fog this morning mild to warm once again today. subtle changes at our beaches and then the fire weather watch goes in effect tomorrow evening for wednesday morning but also the next several days. be mindful of the dry conditions and how easy it is for fires to get ignited. here is the deal -- northeasterly winds 15-25 miles an hour, about 1000 feet for the north and east bay hills. we could see gusts up to 40 miles an hour especially in napa

county. relative humidity from 10-15%. so it's going to be warm today but we will peak with the heat and winds tomorrow and tuesday. >> here is a look at visible pick notice the fog from the north coast to the south but it's a little less pervasive here. we have the north-northwest winds and looking at another nice day around the bay but here is what is going to happen tomorrow. the high is going to build in the upper levels of atmosphere and going to provide more heat and wind shift. that is why we're looking at hotter and drier conditions over the next several days. as for today 85 in sacramento. fog at the coast. 70 in monterey. 85 fresno with 90 in los angeles. pretty warm from to south and all points in between. back home in the south bay 83 in campbell. peninsula about 80 today. redwood city and mountain view at our coast. maybe a few degrees cooler because you have the sea breeze

governor swarzenegger and apple's ceo steve jobs who received a liver transplant last year. here is lyanne melendez with more. >> governor swarzenegger and apple's ceo steve jobs have become powerful advocates for organ donations. >> when you sign up as a donor you are armed with at power to save up to eight lives. >> and jobs is living proof of that. he received a liver transplant last year. >> as a transplant recipient i know how precious this gift of life is. >> here is what the governor's signature did. first california will have a living donor registry meaning anyone can sign up to donate to donate their kidneys. and workers need to don't have

it goes in and out and it's been doing that but flowing in slowly. from this point, it's sunny and very challenging. you are looking at this at a couple hundred feet. it's going to burn back to the coast but it's going to provide enough of a light sea breeze temperatures coming down just a couple degrees today but tomorrow we're talking an offshore flow and high fire danger. 54 half moon bay. it's cooled off here and 67 in oakland 63 in fremont, 62 san jose. we're warmer from oakland to concord but cooler san francisco and the coast and that is because the light north wind. we will be looking at mild to warm day out there. by tomorrow night the winds begin to shift out there to the north-northeast and by tuesday we're talking some pretty gusty

winds with the north and east bay hills. over the past couple of days we have seen fog free conditions. now, the winds come monday night into wednesday morning because they're going to be out of north-northeast 15-25 miles an hour, gusting to 40. and relative humidity 10-15%. napa county we'll be nervous with the high elevation winds all the way across the diablo range. as for today. ridge of high pressure sits off shore. that is why we have the fog. take had a look here. it's being swept off with an overall north westerly flow. that should happen throughout san francisco and that is why we should see the sunny conditions and mild afternoon. tomorrow things get ramped up as the ridge builds in. that is why we'll shift to more offshore flow.

10-10-10. >> an investigation reveals you may be paying illegal fee for calling a cab. michael finney has been looking into the fee charge. here is what he found. >> he travels frequently on business he took a cab and paid his $68 fare by credit card. >> i noticed there was a $74 charge. >> his receipt said. but his charge was 74. he called the 8 hundred number and told a six dollar voucher fee had been added. >> i don't think it would be obvious to anyone to looking in the cab or talking to the cab driver i would be paying a voucher fee. >> but there it was in small
