[ green ant ] ho ho ho ♪ green giant. good evening, i'm alan wang. two radio stations serving the spanish and vietnamese communities are still not on the air today after a stib you were fire burned them down last night -- with efforts to get bag to the air and the political fallout. >> the fire burned here on the back side of this factory. 40 workers were evacuated while firefighters worked to put out the fire. we talked to station managers for the two radio stations and they say fire crews arrived on the scene pretty quickly.

what they can't understand why it took so long to put this fire out. >> we have been up here since yesterday. >> that is when a grass fire that started along the freeway spread destroying vietnamese radio station's studio and spanish station's transmitter. it's the only station that broadcast games in spanish. >> we we're using revenue as we speak. >> a loss they say can be blamed on budget cuts. firefighters were laid off and a fire engine was also on the chopping block. >> they are right across the freeway. they would have been right at the fire and kept to a smaller fire. >> it became the backdrop for

the latest conference announcing an offer to returning to the bargaining table. it's the same offer the union has used in the past. >> we have not provided the same level of service but we need concessions in order to pay for the huge pension increases that are causing us to cut services. >> frustrated by a lack of details, this city councilmember showed up to learn more about the offer. he ended up facing off with union bosses. >> it doesn't add up. >> the reality you need so many dollars to bring back those positions. >> the two radio stations don't know when they'll be back. for now, they remain silent. >> its total loss. we cannot do anything with our building anymore. >> now the san jose fire department does not have an official response time for the fire because the computer program that tracks response times here in san jose is down but a spokesman said with the

heavy winds and dry grass in this area, it took crews more than eight hours to finally contain the fire. over to the east bay where fire crews at the golden eagle refinery brought a fire under control. a worker performing maintenance was injured when diesel fuel caught fire. thick black smoke poured from the tank. an advisory was issued for people with respiratory problems but there is no shelter in place order given. fire officials say refinery crews were handling the incident themselves. two men were killed and two others wounded at a golf course clubhouse last night. apparently everyone at the party scattered leaving investigators with a lot of unanswered questions. in fact they are not sure who rented out the clubhouse for the private party. >> management of the golf course

it appears the application was either falsified or provided fictitious information. we're trying to follow up to find out who rented it. >> witnesses told police there were at least 80 to 100 people where the shooting took place. fox news is claiming it has sources who have identified the person in the jerry brown campaign who called meg whitman a whore. the comment was accidentally recorded on voice mail after brown thought he hung up the phone in answering a message. people with knowledge of what happened saying it's brown's wife calling whitman a whore for getting an endorsement

>>. >> the campaign did not respond to our e-mails today and they haven't is said who said it. when it man is demanding a personal apology. brown's wife anne a former executive at the gap can't exactly be fired from the campaign. >> the environmental group held demonstrations at chevron gas stations all over san francisco today. they staged a series of oil spill cleanups accusing chevron refusing to do cleanup in ecuador. the company also issued a statement, quote, what we wanted everyone to understand that is that we respect the law and we support universal human rights, we work hard to protect in the environment and we work hard to

the as part of the state budget passed bay the legislature this weak, the victim of a san bruno pipeline explosion will get some relief. the bill's authors, his name was stripped thursday night or friday morning because he received a vote for the budget -- refused to vote for the budget. he provides tax write-offs for san bruno homeowners and the budget authorizes the funding for it. looks like the congestion pricing plan is working at the bay bridge. in july the toll went up to $6 to discourage driving during peak commute hours. a new study conducted by the toll authority indicate that people have changed their driving habits. they counted weekday commuters

a woman in room ten of the at kaiser hospital gave birth today at 10-10 a.m. in indianapolis this baby was born at 10:10 this morning. he wasn't due until the 20th meaning he was ten days early. >> a blend of superstition and symbolism made it a popular day to get wedding. mass weddings took place around the world. according to david's bridal the number of u.s. weddings was about ten times that of the same weekend last year. the number ten is considered a symbol of perfection. they called today's date a

night. we have a fire weather watch. clearly you see the clear sky inland. a little bit of low cloudiness and fog near the coast. was right near the golden gate bridge around noontime and the winds helped it scour off the coast. for most of us, mild inland. 56 for livermore. maybe a little bit of touch of fog near the coast and 57 for san francisco. tomorrow, high pressure continues to build in. temperatures will warm a few more degrees. monday night and tuesday night, this high is really going to start position itself over us. that is going to bring warm offshore winds. that is what has prompted in higher elevations a fire weather watch beginning monday night at 6:00 to wednesday at 6:00 a.m. winds at 20-40 miles an hour. this is above the thousand foot level. for the north bay mountains and

if you see a car on the highway that doesn't appear to have a driver it might be a google car. corporate blog this weekend, they say they have been road testing vehicles that stop, start and steer without a person at the wheel. google took these pictures today. the cars travel is 40,000 miles without much human intervention. they understand road maps and guided by video cameras and laser range finders. goal is to prevent consents, reduce carbon emissions and free up your time. that is it for us. i'm alan wang for leigh, shu, thanks for watching.
