good morning, thanks for joining us. i'm carolyn tyler. the hunt for a fairfield man wanted for a fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend of her new boyfriend extends to mexico. they believe he shot the couple in a jealous rage early yesterday morning. amy hollyfield reports on a fugitive police consider armed and dangerous. >> they say ricardo martinez was waiting for them as they walked through the parking lot. >> i heard her screaming. that is what i told my husband, he just killed whoever. he killed her and her new boyfriend. >> residents of the complex had seen martinez before and they new the victim had a restraining order against him. some had even heard him threaten her. >> he said he would kill her.

>> and it came as a shock that it actually happened. >> yeah, i've seen him before, but i didn't know he was going to do that. good grief. >> police believe martinez is on the run and he could be driving a white dodge van with a blue stripes on the side, 8803092 license plate number. or he might be in white ford pickup truck with oregon plates, 100 bwe for a license plate number. >> we're still actively looking for him. >> the s.w.a.t. team searched his fairfield home and acted if martinez was inside. they threw grenades in the home. they went inside with the weapons drawn but the house was empty. >> there was no way to confirm

that he wasn't. >> the victim dated martinez for six years and broke up with him for about four months ago, he. she was a nice lady, very helpful to everybody. >> police say they have no reason to believe that martinez is still in the area and right now, they are working the phones they are reaching out to agencies across the country letting them know they want to catch him. they are in touch with the federal authorities to keep an eye on him out at the border. they consider him armed and dangerous. oakland police are investigating a near fatal attack on a man found lying on the ground unconscious they are lake merritt. he was discovered near grand avenue and perkins street last night. he had a severe head injury which police say appears to be blunt force trauma. he was rushed to a local hospital in extremely critical

condition. police cordoned off that area and called in homicide investigators. san francisco police shut down a block last night when they suspected a ask juggler was using live hand grenades in his act. the bomb squad was called out to check it out. they closed down the area. about an hour later they reopened the street after determining they were fake grenades. two men and a dog were rescued after they got trapped on the side of a cliff at lands end. they ventured into a closed area of the park yesterday. they climbed down the cliff but were unable to get back up to higher ground. rescue workers used a line to pull them to safety. everybody is okay. lands end is a favorite trail. >> the controversy continues over the fatal shooting of a

unarmed man that was shot by oakland police last monday. they held a meeting last night. oakland police say he ran from them. they were responding to a domestic dispute call. he reached into his waistband for a shiny object that turned out to be a scale. he stood up as a teenager and warned against police brutality. he was on the list. that was not a random shooting by police. that was a political target. >> police dispute that. he was harassed by police and his family represented by john burris filed a lawsuit that was settled and ended in the termination of two police officers. sip the deadly san bruno gas line explosion people have been reporting a lot more gas leaks.

it was september 9th with a natural gas transmission line in san bruno exploded killing eight people and destroying 35 homes. today san francisco examiner says the number of calls reporting possible gas leaks in san francisco has doubled since then. the fire department typically investigating 12 or 13 reports each month, but since the san bruno tragedy fire crews have been responding to 28 calls per inch month. pg&e has also seen an uptick in service calls but declined to release specific numbers. both agencies encourage you to go ahead and report any suspected leaks. >> a san francisco's man, medical marijuana delivery service idea might end up as pipe dream. he will appear before a licensing board tomorrow to detroit trie get approval for

you know the drill, we talked about the higher elevation winds from mount tam to mount diablo and mount a hamilton with gusty 40 mile-an-hour ranges with sustained winds. if you are doing hiking and biking, above 1,000 feet it will still be windy but otherwise we're talking mild mid-week cooling wednesday and thursday, significant cooling. so here are the advisories from the north bay mountains, carquinez strait and delta and diablo range, sustained winds over 20-30 miles an hour. as for today, we are looking at very pleasant weather, 70s and couple of 80s to the north of it's in sonoma county but we will have a few high clouds from time to time. big picture, take a look at the satellite. we've got a huge dome of high pressure. it's well to the north but it will last a couple of days and we're looking at deep trough

welcome back. more spending cuts are unavoidable for our state. the latest budget forecast shows it will balloon to $25 billion in the next year and a half and that is why governor swarzenegger is now calling for a special legislative session. capital correspondent that net miranda reports. >> while he likes the green technology he is seeing at a car show his next agenda is about red, the red ink plaguing the budget. he is tackle a $6 billion deficit before it grows to $25 billion next year. >> i talked to governor elect brown, he knows about it. the faster we make decisions is

leash but let go when the robber claimed to have a gun. they also took her purse. what the robbers didn't know that he a microchip implanted under the skin. they identified the car in the robbery and arrested a 19-year-old suspect who claimed he abandoned the dog in a park. a transient couple found him and sold him for $20 to a woman who called detectives. >> it wasn't until the afternoon before she called that she saw one of the news reports put out by the media and put two and two together. >> we utilized the help of the animal control services to scan the chip to make sure the dog was hers. >> his 11 day adventure but police recovered her purse. >> they really picked the wrong

been washing ashore on ocean beach. they are getting reports of millions of jellies floating off the coast. since april, they are likely moon jelly fish. some of them drift too close to land and get caught in the surf, they wash ashore and then unfortunately they die. >> it's one of the bay area's most anticipated times of the year, and dungeness crab season. this season is shaping up to be better than past seasons. did you think necessary crabs have more meat and this they more sweet than their cousins. they are found from santa barbara to alaska but large mature males can be hard. state law limits it through november 15th through june 30th. they are making final

bridge to the fire station went out five years ago. that has led to delays in emergency service but all of that is about to change thanks to some dedicated volunteers who refuse to give up. here is dan ashley with this morning's report. >> reporter: this 18,000 pound plank swinging over the creek highs as well be a victory flag. >> is a big day. >> reporter: in just a few hours these planks will become a new bridge that will allow the town's fire engines to get to the town. >> the people had the right idea. they had the drive to get it done. >> reporter: the problem begin five years ago when the bridge was condemned after a big storm damaged the footing. the fire station is one side of the creek. the town is on the other. in the old days, folks might have spent a weekend fixing the bridge themselves, but that is not an option now.

>> we have to meet the requirements of 11 different agencies. >> reporter: those agencies required a new, much stronger bridge and there were a lot of environmental rules because the creek is a protected salmon area that feeds the russian river. the job would cost $400,000. while jenner has plenty of tourists, it only has about 120 residents to share the costs. the fund-raising took five years. federal emergency management agency agreed to pay three-quarters of the money but when we visited the town they were trying to raise the rest. >> after our report ran, they picked up to start construction. >> we're still hoping by the time this is done the money will be there. >> the work started about a month ago. it is a huge undertaking with elaborate protection for the salmon. first they built a temporary dam

and funneled the stream. volunteers moved the fish to a safer area. >> we ran around with buckets filled with waters and little nets and worked through the whole creek, pulling them out from their hiding places. >> after the abutments were built, 400 tons of rock were put in place. >> down at the base, some of the rocks are like this. >> salmon likes hiding places so redwood roots were anchored in the street. >> these are 15 feet long so five feet out in the river, ten feet is in the bank. they were drilled and bolted to the boulder. >> now with the stream bed ready the bridge is going to. local volunteers appeared and when three planks are finally in place they get to take the first walk across. >> after the celebration, the crew gets back to work and the town of jenner starts thinking
