good morning. it's been a weekend of violence in oakland with at least one person dead and nine others wounded by gunfire in separate incidents they have arrested one man late last night. the suspect was taken into custody on the scene and a firearm was recovered. a second person was found a short distance away with a gunshot wound wants taken to a local hospital in stable condition. police say he has not been ruled out as a suspect. that shooting came hours after another incident in east oakland that left one person dead, three others were shot. several blocks had to be shut down. police say the or three injuries are not life-threatening and still trying to figure out what happened there. the other shooting took place near mills college where one man was killed and two others were injured. oakland police are finding out

shootings. he says his officers are well-trained. he wants to show the media what they see and hear from the people is not always the case. >> the police chief held a use of force training session when he was in long beach. they will be a yearly event in oakland. a 15-year-old girl who disappeared in early november has been found safe in san francisco. she and her accused abductor were found yesterday. amy hollyfield has the story. >> jennifer berlinhoff heard about it. they were leading search teams through snow. hundreds attended a candlelight vigil while jennifer kept track of it in san francisco.

came to san francisco after a google search showed to it be the best place to be homeless. >> employees at napa state hospital will be demonstrating outside the facility to demand better protection for staff. they want more safeguards after an employee was attacked by a patient yesterday morning. that employee is hospitalized in serious condition and lisa amin gulezian says this is second attack in four days. >> it's dangerous. we are losing control. we have lost control. >> those who work at napa state hospital it's like being in a war zone, where staffers are facing off against patients. on wednesday, a custodian was beaten unconscious and this morning, a rehabilitation therapist was attacked. >> the custodian was out with the r.t.and they were beat up by this patient that beat up the custodian the other day.

>> they are charged with assault. these two attacks come after a murder of a technician donna gross. her accused killer is jeff massey. >> we've been on heightened sense of alert on what happened to donna. all of our members are removing themselves from any situation that could be potentially fatal or dangerous. >> flowers are placed on the hospital's front lawn as a reminder of the october 23rd strangulation. staffers hope they'll remind management of the safety concerns they continue to have while on the job. hospital management would not talk to us on camera but released a statement. napa state hospital immediately added additional measures d about escorting patients on hospital grounds. >> employees who want to remain anonymous, they say management's

we are looking at the clear skies, watsonville, monterey, 56 in mountain view, 55 in san jose. we're looking at lower 50s in napa where this morning you have pretty good dose of fog. since then, we're just looking at lots of clouds around here and sunny skies later on this afternoon. temperatures will be in the 60s but spare the air day, wintertime where no burning due to the air quality that is not going to be great in the south bay. moderate around the south bay, visibility is pretty good along the coast with ten miles around half moon bay. cloudy skies and by this afternoon, early afternoon, i think we'll scour out more sunshine, especially in the south bay. central valley fog that continues to drift into the carquinez straits and delta and

that is due to light and variable winds. and high pressure ridge is beginning to drift off and we are looking at fog slipping in and settle into some of the valleys. here is water vapor imagery and storm track is well to the north. there is an area of low pressure in the gulf of alaska that will allow more rain to come our way. not a big system but it should be here around tuesday. >> with high pressure in control gradual sunshine and temperatures responding around the bay, inch monterey with 82 in los angeles. back home, numbers ranging from the mid-60s in sunnyvale to the upper 60s around san jose. 64 in menlo park. gray skies in the morning hours, and hazy afternoon sun downtown. north bay, looking at 62 in petaluma. so this fog in marin county stuck around for long time.

mark madoff was found hanged in his living room apartment. police say mark madoff's father-in-law found the body in the manhattan apartment. his two-year-old son was asleep in another room. >> he was found hanging from a pipe of the living room of the apartment. >> they said he sent an e-mail to his wife in florida, saying take care of our son. the wife became concerned that he was suicidal. >> they were called by mad 60s wife to check on the two-year-old. >> it was a tragedy, he was more interested in fly fishing than wall street. he reluctantly entered his father's business but he was sued for millions and learned that he may face criminal

>> vallejo police say they have shot and killed a man that was armed with a gun. it was off of florida street, but 3:00, witnesses reported seeing a man carrying a gun. police confronted him in the alley where he threatened them and they shot him. he was pronounced dead at a hospital. the senate will begin voting on tax cut deal that was struck between obama and congressional leaders. bill clinton is urging democrats in congress to vote for the $860 billion package. expectations are for smoother sailing in the senate but democrats still want to make changes. david axelrod expects the president's deal with republicans to be approved before the end of the year. >> i think every single person in that building does not want taxes to go up on january 1st, does not want to see two million people lose their unemployment

this weekend, demonstrators have gathered outside a british embassy in spain to protest the detention of julian assange. protestors in madrid, free julian and truth now. they chanted in his support. he is accused of sex crimes in sweden. he remains in a british jail awaiting a hearing on december 14. protestors were upset about the closure of wikileaks's swiss bank account. >> in another release a confidential report says the captain and crew of american airlines was briefly retained in venezuela in 2008 after a crew member announced the passengers reset their time to chavez time. they moved the clock back a half an hour permanently. a supporter of chavez happened to be on board and referred local to loco.

you had fog earlier and 55 half moon bay. so visibility has improved. we'll look at hazy sun as high pressure dominates our weather. spare the air day, and looking at moderate air quality around the south bay today. that is what we're going to look for, daytime heating, north westerly winds picking up a bit. that should dissipate this fog, evaporate it a bit. salinas, watsonville and monterey, our in the sunshine already. we're looking at the thick fog all the way into central valley. that is where it's going to bring back in the carquinez strait and the delta. you are going to stay rather gray. antioch and brentwood with temperatures held counsel in the upper 50s. this ridge continues to shift to the east. it holds the storm track to the

north. we will remain dry today and tomorrow but hopefully we'll get more wind and bring a little more sunshine. by late monday, as it slides to the east, that system is going to drop down from the north. that is going to bring light rain, widespread around the bay, maybe half an inch into tuesday. warm weather today in southern california, once again, 82 there. 75 in san diego and still very cloudy from sacramento to fresno. sunny in monterey and in the south bay, poor air quality, should be a nice afternoon with mid 60s in cupertino. i would say around 10:00, 11:00, getting in on the sunshine may be later. 11:00 along the peninsula with low 60s. pacifica, 63 but above the average, it should be in the mid-50s this time of year. santa rosa, 13 degrees warmer than normal. low 60s for sonoma and novato.
