petaluma, novato, close to the golden gate bridge. some moderate rain on whipple road, and dublin, you're getting ready to get hit. some of the heaviest rain has been south of san jose. we're seeing now towards redwood city. this is gilroy, down towards hollister. check out this band of very heavy rain moving through monterey and salinas. heavy rain, definite for your sunday morning, and we look at the forecast coming up. >> alan: pg&e just restored power to more than 4,000 homes and businesses in half moon bay. they lost their electricity earlier this evening. crews also restored power to 27 customers in hollister. the utility blames the rain for equipment failures. >> despite the rain, this was a day a lot of people were

caltrans crews started clearing storm drains early this morning. the debris backed up in seven spots, and the problems underground caused this backup above ground. a total of four lanes were closed for hours. >> just an irritant. >> reporter: the rain is making things more challenging than usual everywhere. traffic isn't the only turn. homeowners are worried about leaks and water damage. >> the city of oakland is offering up to 20 free sandbags and plastic tarps to residents. >> i'm going to just put them around this foundation outside, to keep water from going into the basement. sometimes when it rains really hard, then the base tends to kind of take on a leak. >> reporter: sandbags are available at oakland service center and at 14 of the city's fire stations.

at the temperatures. mountain view, 62. 60 in san jose. in the north bay, temperatures much cooler, accept rosa right now, 52, and 58 in san francisco. increasing rain and wind overnight. the heaviest rain tomorrow morning, then scattered showers sunday afternoon, and then off and on showers next week. we'll show you what's going on. southern california actually the moisture plume pushed in that direction today. we got also bit of a break. you can see as this continues to feed in, everything starting to look towards the north. so while we did have a slight break today, everything is moving in our direction. you can see where the jet stream pushed the moisture feed into southern california, and in the last few frames all of this is starting to move to the north. this is us right now. so this train of moisture will continue to feed in here overnight tonight. going through the night, you can see things really get active.

tomorrow morning, check this out. heavy rain makings way across the bay area. 11:00, continue to see the heavy rain. and then late in the afternoon, things start to thin out a little bit. a little break sunday night, and then more rain due in here on monday. rainfall potential, maybe an inch and a half, three inches in the santa cruz mountains, and a half an inch to maybe an inch other place across the bay area. winter storm warnings in effect in the sierra, up until 4:00 monday afternoon, and still looking at incredible amounts of snowfall. three to eight feet expected about the 7,000-foot level. tomorrow morning, the heaviest rain. maybe a few claps of thunder as well, and then the rain will decrease by tomorrow afternoon. temperatures much like today, mid-up to 50ers. watsonville, 58. the seven-day forecast, we will continue to go with periods of rain through monday. slight break on tuesday. winter arrives on tuesday.
