egypt. and two people are shot in the heart of fisherman's

an active crime scene in the heart of fisherman's wharf where two people were shot to death tonight. abc7's lilian kim is near jefferson street at the gift shop where it happened. lilian? >> please have it blocked off between jones and taylor and as you said at the heart of fisherman's wharf and officers are processing the scene. the shooting happened at a store that sells everything from perfume to handbags. two store employees and a man and woman were shot and killed and a male suspect is in custody. that's all the information we have been given from officers here on the scene, and we do not know the relationship between the victims and the suspect. nor do we know the circumstances of what lead up to the shooting.

what we do know is that many people were in the area when this happened and that the shots along the street were still open. we talked to two tourists from texas in the area when the shooting occurred around 8:00. >> it is a little scary for tourists. we are hearing it doesn't happen like this, but we are extremely busy at the time. scary we had almost gone in the store, but went to get something to eat first. >> this is my first time in san francisco. >> what do you think? >> crime happens everywhere. there is not much you can do to prevent it. i think it is a little weird that there is so many people and it still happens. >> with the exception of all of the police activity in and around the store, fisherman's wharf is empty now. the f line is delayed because jefferson street is blocked off. live in san francisco, lilian kim, abc7 news. >> thank you, lilian.

now to egypt where anti-government protests have just entered a seventh day. governments are issuing tribal warnings to egypt and some including the united states are urging their citizens to evacuate as soon as possible. >> he is hoping his scheduled flight will get him out of egypt and back home to menlo park. >> i assumed british airways is flying and we have tickets tomorrow. >> since the protests began, flights have either been canceled, suspended or delayed leaving thousands of americans stranded. >> i don't like being in this situation. it is chaotic for us, and we don't speak the lange welling, and it is hard to -- language and it is hard to communicate with people. >> they are planning to alleviate the backlog. starting monday, chartered planes will take any american wishing to leave from cairo to

europe. they are relying on friends and family in the u.s. to relay that message since internet interruptions in egypt are making it difficult to find out what is going on. >> i am worried, but very proud of her. >> she is certain her mother won't be getting on one of those chartered planes. she is a professor in uc davis and she arrived specifically to join the protests. she has called isha three times since telling her she is safe. >> this is the first time she feels like she has a legitimate chance. i think she wants to be there to help and do what she can and to help see him leave. >> the situation is fluid and dangerous. the crackle of gunfire lit up the night near the cairo museum that was vandalized the day before. as monday dawned on the egyptian capital, protesters

were still camped out on the main square and calling for a general strike. here is larry jacobs. >> after nearly a week of protests, they resolved to press on despite the government's attempt to intimidate them with a show of force. fire jets buzzed over and military helicopters flew even lower. the crowd defied an extended curfew, but made no move to enforce it or shut them down. the opposition leader said "what we have begun cannot be reverse said." -- reversed." he said president mubarak needs to step down. abc news this week hosts talked about it. >> people's concern right now is mubarak has to go immediately. >> mubarak met on tv meeting

his prime minister. once again cairo's residents armed with bats and knives formed their own checkpoint to guard against looting and crime. on monday, the egyptian police will reportedly be deployed to the streets to deal with law and order and crime, but this time not to get involved with the protesters. larry jacobs, abc news. meanwhile, the bay area people with close ties to egypt have been anxiously watching the events unfold on tv. cecilia vega has that part of our story. >> bay areae -- bay area egyptians can just monitor facebook around the clock. >> the protesters -- >> they came back from a visit to their native country just one day before tuesday's uprising began. they had a sense something big was on the horizon. >> taxi drivers were going on and on about how bad things are, how they can't feed their

demanding mubarak step down, there is fear of what could come next. >> this government is overthrown and the next strongest power on the street is muslim extremists. >> change is what they want and their fellow country men are rooting them on from across the globe. cecilia vega, abc news. in other news, supporters held a candlelight vigil for juliani. it came one day after they ended their search of a canal without finding the bodies of cardinis or his suspected it kidnapper. authorities believe they are dead, but the family continues to hold out hope that they will find jiliani alive. the boy's mother says she thinks police can do more to look for her son. >> i think the amber alert should be statewide. we don't know where jose is. only god knows. my gut tells me my son is

still alive, and i need help, for people to keep their eyes out. i think somebody is hiding him out. and there is a big reward. i want to put that out there. >> tabitha emphasized that the kidnapping suspect, jose rodriguez should be easier to spot than her son, and she is asking for people to keep an eye out for him. oakland police identified the man shot and killed by officers in the rock ridge district yesterday. police say officers shot matthew sicelski after he pointed a fake assault weapon. they responded after receiving calls that a man with weapons was harassing residents. when officers arrived he forced his way into a home. when he came back with a weapon officers opened fire. tonight the officers are on a routine paid administrative leave. the san francisco police department is revisiting the idea of arming officers with tasers. it comes after three officer-involved shootings

mission. and he truly believed if we were going to make a difference in this world, if we are going to appreciate each other's differences, if we are going to fight racism, we need to teach these lessons at a very young age. >> and on this annual day of recognition, schools are encouraged to teach students his story and the importance of civil rights. a three-week old penguin chick born at the monterey bay aquarium this month has been taken out of the exhibit. this is youtube video of the baby. it is the aquarium's first african black footed penguin chick, and officials removed it because they wanted to protect it from drowning and other aggressive penguins. it weighs 2.4 pounds and the sex is unknown. they will spend the next few months hand-feeding it fish and teaching him out to swim. then it will be urn ared to the exhibit with its parents. and a wiemer reiner took

top place. more than 100 breeds competed making it the perfect place to look for your next dog. visitors got the meet the dogs and the breeders in person. the winner received a $500 cash prize and a chance to compete at the famous westminster dog show in new york. and "the king's speech" was the big winner in los angeles at the screen actor's guild award. conlin firth won for best actor. facebook drama "the social network" is the other top contender. natalie portman won the best ago actress winner for "the black swan." alec baldwin won for his role in "30 rock." and 89-year-old betty white won best tv comedy actress for "hot in cleavland." and "modern family" won for overall cast performance in a tv comedy. the upcoming academy awards

will air february 27th. and that is right here on abc7. let's go to leigh glaser and a look at our forecast. >> we started off with the rain and even a few claps of thunder. and now we have clear skies and getting ready for some cold overnight temperatures. here is a shot from our high definition sutro cam and you can see market street there and the bay bridge and the clear skies. as i just mentioned, the temperatures are getting cold already. it is 41 in fairfield and antioch is at 46 degrees and 50 in mountain view and we have 49 right now in san francisco. so here is a look at our highlights. we are continued clearing and a little of the patchy fog is redeveloping and looking for sunshine tomorrow. it is going to be a cool day. temperatures in the mid to upper 50s, and it does look like things will start to warm up through the week. this week you can bank on dry conditions.

earlier this morning we had the showers and even a few isolated thunderstorms across the bay area. but the area of low pressure moved quickly to the south and the east of us. and you can see the clearing taking place out there right now. clear skies will radiate the heat away. so the temperatures will really bottom out tonight. napa getting down to 33. 34 for santa rosa. a little of the valley fog expected there. concord by the way right now is reporting about a mile visibility in some locations with the fog already. 38 expected low there. 36 livermore and we will go 47 for san francisco. so here is the story. this is the low that brought us the showers today. it has exited and pushed out toward the east. high pressure is the fair weather maker and really much like last week and the week before that when we had the high just sit on the -- along the coast, it will be the same scenario all week long. look for the storm track to stay well north of the bay area. the sunshine will be cool
